Sample Annotated Bibliography Assignment Sheet

To give you confidence that the entries you’re creating are appropriate for the Community Annotated Bibliography, you will each submit one sample Annotated Bibliography entry for review and a grade.

Below you’ll find the rubric I’ll use to evaluate your entry. I will evaluate all entries submitted as part of your Community Annotated Bibliography using the same criteria.

Please attach this page to your annotated bibliography entry before submitting.

The entry should contain the following four elements:

1. Bibliographic Entry: For each source, begin with the bibliographic information correctly formatted according to MLA style guidelines.

2. General Summary: In around 300 words, articulate a “big picture” assertion—telling what the source is about/accomplishes, overall. Also, describe the major “key points” from the source using Source Attribution Phrases (SAPs). Details, quotations, and paraphrases should NOT be used to create this summary.

3. TRAAP Evaluation: In around 200 words, objectively evaluate the source using the TRAAP criteria. Be sure the criteria are clearly specified and that you include specific information/examples to show how the source meets or does not meet high expectations. End the evaluation with an overall evaluation of the source.

4. Name: Place your full name at the end of this entry. (You will not get credit for this entry if your name is not included.)
