Description of Black and Decker Trickle Charger
The Black and Decker trickle charger is a low-amperage charger for 12V and 6V batteries. It is designed to slowly charge the battery at either 1A or 2A without damaging the cells within. The device is easy to use and small in size.
The device is roughly 2” x 4” with a 120-volt household plug on one end and on the other end two alligator-style clamps that easily pinch onto the terminals of the battery. This is not meant to be an emergency charger due to the low amperage and also must be plugged into a household outlet when in use.
The purpose of the trickle charger is to charge 12V or 6V batteries without overcharging the battery, which is harmful to the cells. It does this by switching into float mode which does not charge the battery anymore until it begins to lose its charge. There is a manual switch on the side that switches the unit to either 1A, off, or 2A.
The charger is equipped with a few safety features that enable this device to be simple and used by the DIY person. The connections to the battery are spark

resistant and there is a warning light if the connections are swapped on the terminals.
The charger presents a simple, easy-to-use design, makes a great charger for outdoor equipment and other batteries that are not used daily, to keep batteries charged and to prolong the life of the battery.
