GROWTH MINDSET “PERSISTENCE AND GRIT 2

The intent of reviewing an article is to gain an understanding of the concept, get the

author's position, and to reflect our opinion concerning the topic discussed. The article

“Transforming Students’ Motivation to Learn” by Carol, S. Dweck, helps to achieve these

objectives. The author of this article discussed the key issues that determine students'

motivations for learning. The article was based on the findings of the study conducted in the

colleges to determine the key learning motivating factors among students.

Carol reveals that the critical issue that determines students' motivation to learning is the

mindset; she admits to the essential mode of the mode of mindsets that primarily determines

clients’ ability to learn. The two mindsets are – the first mindsets take intelligence as a fixed

thing, and the other one takes intelligence as something that can grow. The mindsets were found

to be key determining factors of the level of academic levels the students are going to achieve.

With a fixed mindset, one tends to believe that the learning ability is fixed, and there is nothing

that can be done to improve the situation; the growth mindset takes learning ability as something

that is prone to changes.

This article has impacted my understanding of how one gets the motivation to increase

motivation to learn. The article has made me believe that the ability to learn is not limited to

anyone; it depends on how an individual view learning. Though it worth noting that we have

different learning abilities, it is possible to improve our learning skills. This reading has made me

feel that I have the power to achieve the best academic qualification. Previously I had a fixed

mindset on learning since I used to believe that our learning abilities are fixed and there nothing

we can do to improve. Now I tend to believe that learning skills are improved from time to time,

and thus, one can able to improve academic performance progressively. The ability to get to

learn is based on how one approaches learning; therefore, it essential to change our mindset and

start believing that the learning ability is subjected to growth.

The article has served a significant role in changing my mindsets, and this has an impact

on how I will be approaching my classmates. The concept of this article will help to motivate the

deal with hard ideas in the course of our learning. This article will help to change students'

mindsets and help to view learning in different ways. Many students tend to believe that the

ability to learn is fixed, and thus, it's not possible to improve it. Carol's articles will change

students' attitudes toward learning, and this will have a significant impact on performance.

Therefore, I recommend this article to be used as a learning guide.
