Writing is finding yourself

The mind is a palace; it is there where all our most precious thoughts and ideas live. Writing is not just the act of writing; It is more than that; it is thinking and organizing ideas. All of us at some point have written a letter, journal entries, poems, or even the children in their school assignments write even words, all having something in common; we immediately became writers by expanding our thoughts and forming a brainstorm of ideas into well- organized writing. Through writing, you will always find yourself, taking out your being, and taking you to places of your mind that you never knew before. When you write, you are finding answers to questions or problems. Pencil and paper are an extension of your mind, and as you write, your mind is expressing itself. There are four claims that I believe about writing that we should emphasize in our lives to keep learning.

The first claim about writing is that writing is not only brainstorming and write what comes to your mind; it is about creating a state to meditation. Sometimes for some people writing is not easy work, “you need to get into the right state of mind to achieve that, and meditation is the shortest path to that state. Meditation can unlock your best writing ideas.” Written by Farnoosh Brock in ‘Meditation and The Art of Writing” article. Writing is more than putting words in a piece of paper, is thinking more profoundly. Meditation not only free your ideas and expand your mind, but it also helps you to focus on the ideas you want to get out. Your brain immediately changes when you meditate. You get better at seeing things differently in an open-minded way. Sometimes I get stress and with assignments where I have to write a

lot more, but I always try to calm down and meditate to reduce my stress and anxiety by writing everything that comes to my mind, getting out all my thoughts and feelings. For example, in the Activity Reflection we did in our ENC class, I wrote about an experience I had in FIU, and I chose to experience in a workshop, in the assignment I had to think in what I learned and how I felt. “I learned a lot of things that will help me in the future because I like to take care of my mental and physical health, and now I will know what services FIU can offer me as a student.” Meditate increases productivity in what you are trying to accomplish. “There are moments when writing feels like meditation itself as you pause between words, between thoughts, between sentences,” by “How Meditation Helps You Write Better” article written by Dr. Alexandra Domelle.

My second claim is that writing opens your mind in a more significant way, giving you skills to observe and experience life a little better. When we observe, we can read people and scenarios; we can notice things that we didn't before. The power of observation has given me the knowledge to develop my works more productively. "Book open your mind, broaden your mind, and strengthen you as nothing else can," a quote written by William Feather. By observing, you will listen to conversations, listen to how people react to others' people phrases or meanings, and you can store that information in your mind, and finally write. I have had the privilege to write things feeling it because if you haven't had the experience or haven't observed stuff in books or life, then what is the purpose of observing to write with knowledge? I think everything is about reading, observing, and writing.

Observation is an essential tool for a writer. In the course, one of our first assignments was Blog Entry 1; I had to reflect on my past experiences with language persuading or influencing people, "Today I am studying at the Florida International University and with all the support of my family. I used my strategies, I made them remember how I was since I was a child and how I always react to the changes; in a good way. It was successful in my attempt to persuade them, making them feel what I really wanted, and feeling an emotional approval from them." I had to think about my experiences and things I had observed before.

My third claim is that it also helps to get out what is inside you. Writing can help you to give yourself the strength to be better as a student or even as an entrepreneur. Writing through my ENC classes during this semester helped me notice my skills to write and how good can I be when I let myself be. By writing, you are expressing your thoughts, and by expressing them, you are yourself. Helping you to process situations you don't want to express out loud but by words. "A day will come when the story inside you will want to breathe on its own. That's when you'll start writing," a quote written by Sarah Noffke. While I was writing my Joining the Conversation essay, "It is also important to know after all the information given that we cannot be influenced by everything the world presents us. Negative influence can lead to physical and mental health problems. Let's use social media to influence our body image with positive things. You are enough." I had to think a lot and get the words that were inside me by making it original; it was a well-done essay, for me, one of the most workable where I had to write by making it my paper.

My last and fourth claim is that writing strengthens your mind and imagination by seeking creativity. During my ENC classes, I used my imagination and creativity a lot; for example, in the discourse community video, I had to put all my creative ideas together and make it one single idea. I had to make a video about my Discourse Community, and I chose the Dominican Community. I put all my effort into being creative; I shared the Dominican Community lexis as "Pana," and "Klk," I also shared photos about the Dominican food as "Mofongo," and "Yaroa," I did some full, medium, and close up shots. I had to combine all the information I had about Dominicans with new ones I imagined having in the video. By seeking creativity while writing, you are going to notice things that others don't. Also, you are not in your comfort zone; you are getting and thinking outside that little box, establishing new ideas. Almost in all assignments, Rhetorical Review essay, Joining the Conversation essay, Blog Entries, Analyzing some students' essays, and in others, I used all my imagination and creativeness to be original.

Since I am little, I enjoyed writing because I always thought the best way to express myself and to know me better was by writing. I used to write everything that came to my mind, and then I read what I wrote down, and I always kept doing that, and still, I do it. What makes someone a writer is its uniqueness to use the words; every writer has its technique and form of expression itself. One of the most important aspects for me is writing. Writing enables me to express my emotions, my thoughts, and as I said before, to get out what is inside me by getting my beliefs and opinions out. Being able to write is something privileged; without

writing, there is no reason for reading. Everything in the World is about writing; writing is educational and is about reflecting ourselves.

What makes writing important? Writing is important because it strengthens our ability to explain and express our ideas to others. This skill can be hard for some people, but by creating a state to meditation, it will help to get out what is inside you. Strengthening your mind and observation skills, you will be able to develop your style of writing and be unique.
