Fire is uncontrolled processes of burning that develops risk towards human life and loss of property. Just as like any other local business, The Home Depot has an active fire protection systems utilized in different location within the building. The Home Depot has is a very big building; there is wide variety of flower-business taking place. In order to save this building from danger of fire, various utility such as exits and entries, fire alarm, fire horse cabinets, stand pipes, sprinkler, exit signs, and portable fire extinguishers. This facilities are fixed within the building to ensure proper control in case of fire emergency.

a. Location of exits (regular entry/ exit and emergency exits)

The Home Depot has one main exit and two other small exits which are located in the southern side of the building. The two smaller exits are made of light glass which is breakable in case of emergency. On the other side (northern side), there is one big entry to allow the entry of fire fighters in case of fire emergency outbreak.

b. Location of fire alarm

The fire alarm is one of the most required and highly effective apparatus of the fire protection systems. The picture above shows the location of fire alarm and its connection system at The Home Depot has building. The alarm is set on the right of the entry door whereby it is visible for everybody to press in case of any fire emergency. The alarm produces a loud sound which reaches the fire helping centers so that they may take an immediate action.

c. Location of fire hose cabinet

Fire action notices is very important attention for every member working in this area. In The Home Depot has building, fire hose cabinet is located adjacent to manual call points (opposite fire alarm) showing the exact location and the nearest assembly point in case of any fire outbreak.

d. standpipes

The picture above represents very huge standpipes which connects The Home Depot has water supply to the hose connections that are set aside to be used by fire department in case of a fire breakout in this place. The standpipes are fixed with pressure gauge for easy adjustment of the pressure when it is in operation.

e. Sprinkler location

Opposite the Home Depot has wall, there is big pipe carrying water with high pressure and a sprinkler system point. The sprinkler is set to reduce the risk to life and reduce the property damage in case of a fire break out. The water filled in these big pipes has some addictive’s added in order to prevent corrosion. The water in this area is set in high pressure to be thrown in distance when sprinkler is switched on.

f. Exit signs

Just like any other business building, The Home Depot has is designed with lighting signs which shows the exit from the building in case of any fire outbreak. In the picture above, the exit sign is set on top in the exit door. The sign has a green light which is visible and understood for easily access of the exit emergency doors.

g. portable fire extinguisher

A fire extinguisher is very useful in every working business institution. The Home Depot has observed this role by ensuring that it has fixed a fire extinguisher in their building. In every corner of this building, there is at least one extinguisher mounted in wall cabinets with the carrying handle placed 3-1/2 to 5 feet above the ground. This is to ensure it firm and avoid easy damages.

i. Special labels in Garden Club

Opposite The Home Depot has, just adjacent the building, there are many storage flammable chemicals which are easy to catch fire easily. As a result, there are labels with warning messages to warn the smokers to keep away from this flammable zone.
