Dear ENGL 160 Committee Members:

I am writing this cover letter to inform you regarding my performance in my asp 032. Through continuous reading and writing practices in class and writing center, my writing skills have improved. Currently, I am able to write an appropriate writing. For instance, I have written several writing assignments and I revised three of them as you can see in the portfolio. Altogether, these writings prove that my writing skills have improved. Moreover, I would like to let you know that I have improved in grammar, and I have gained considerable writing skills whereby I can write fluently without hesitating and in a short time. I am proud and thankful to my supervisor for ensuring that I improve my writing skills. Therefore, I am attaching this cover page in front of my portfolio that includes my three revised works including paraphrase 1, summary-response 2, and the research paper 1 as proof that I have excelled in asp 032 courses. Thus, I am ready to enroll in English 160.

First of all, I chose paraphrase 1 assignment to include this cover letter to affirm to you that my skills in signal phrase and changing the sentence structure have improved. Primarily, my goals for improving in this paraphrase assignment were to know how to change the sentence structure and to have an accurate citation information. I wanted to develop and to make my vocabulary more effective, so that I can be eligible to do more perfect paraphrasing. I used the UIC tutors to improve my paraphrasing skills

I believe I have successfully improved in the research paper 1 assignment that I revised, I used transition between paragraphs and more ideas. However, I encountered challenges when working on this project. Firstly, I improved my thesis statement and I included a clearly stated argument. My goal for developing this assignment were to change most of the topic sentences and make it clear. Therefore, I added more of my experience and I think that will helps more to improve my writing skills.

The last project I chose were the summary-response 2 assignment, and it’s my important assignment because it will be our final exam too, so my goal in this project is to be fully ready for the final exam. This project reflects my strengths because I have changed a lot, especially in the responses paragraphs, I had developed the responses using specific examples and more evidence with using many strategies to respond. Above all, my improved grammar and mechanics shows that I am ready for the next course.

I believe that including my cover letter in the portfolio will make you believe that I am ready to join ENGL 160. Besides, disclosing my goals and feelings towards this project will reflect my continued dedication to improving my English skills. Likewise, I am confident that explaining the challenges that I encountered while learning the course will act as a proof concerning my urge of enrolling in the next English class. I hope that this information above will be sufficient regarding my continued improvement in the previous class. As discussed above, my writing skills have improved during the semester. I engaged in continuous writing and reading practices that sharpened my skills. However, I have a challenge of writing fast. However, I am planning to continue doing exercises to solve this problem in my next class of ENGL 160.
