Hope Clinic
System thinking offers a comprehensive understanding of the performances of health care services. Health care providers must discern the workings of health care centers' 1 STRUCTURES, PROCESSES, AND OUTCOMES TO DELIVER QUALITY PATIENT CARE (EVERETT ET AL., 2020). ADDITIONALLY, THERE ARE EXTERNAL FACTORS THAT IMPACT THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM. Hope clinic is an example of a healthcare facility with a structure that abides by the elements of systems in healthcare. 2 HOPE CLINIC OFFERS SEVERAL MINORITY HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE COMMUNITY OUTREACH, BRAIN AGING WELLNESS, AND CANCER PREVENTION. THE CLINIC ALSO SUPPORTS DIVERSITY. HOPE CLINIC PROVIDES ROUGHLY 200,000 AFRICAN-AMERICANS IN NORTHEAST FLORIDA WITH A CANCER PREVENTION PROGRAM CALLED "LIVE WELL. BE WELL." THE PROGRAM’S PURPOSE IS TO TEACH AFRICAN-AMERICANS ABOUT CANCER. THIS CANCER PREVENTION PROGRAM ALSO INTENDS TO TEACH THESE COMMUNITIES ABOUT THE SIGNIFICANCE OF LEADING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. THESE OUTREACH PROGRAMS AIM TO PREVENT, DETECT AND TREAT CANCER AMONG AFRICAN-AMERICANS.
SOMALI WOMEN ARE ALSO PROVIDED WITH A SAFE, COMFORTABLE, AND NON- MEDICATED DELIVERY EXPERIENCE. However, the center follows all the essential health standards. 2
THE TEAM IN THIS FACILITY CONSISTS OF DOCTORS, MIDWIVES, AND NURSE EDUCATORS THAT PROVIDE INTERACTIVE CLASSES USING ROLE-PLAY. IN ADDITION, THIS TEAM USES

CULTURALLY SUITABLE PRACTICES TO EDUCATE WOMEN ABOUT PRENATAL CARE. THE CENTER VARIES FROM THE HOSPITAL BY PROVIDING IMPROVED HEALTH LITERACY AND GUARANTEEING HEALTHY BABIES AND MOTHERS. The program’s aim is to enable pregnant women to control their bodies during birth. 1 THE PATIENTS LEARN WHAT TO DO DURING LABOR, SUCH AS EATING, MOVING, AND STAYING IN POSITIONS THAT FEEL MOST COMFORTABLE AS LONG AS IT IS APPROVED TO BE SAFE BY THE HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS AT THE CLINIC.
2 HOPE CLINIC FAILS TO OFFER CARE DURING DELIVERY AND POSTPARTUM. Therefore, these services refer expectant mothers to other health care organizations. 2 THE CENTER ALSO PROVIDES COMMUNITY, CORPORATE, PROFESSIONAL, AND HEALTH OUTREACH PROGRAMS. THESE PROGRAMS ASSIST IN CREATING AWARENESS OF CHRONIC AILMENTS THAT DISPROPORTIONATELY AFFECT MINORITY COMMUNITIES. THE TARGET GROUPS OF THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE ASIAN-AMERICAN, HISPANIC, LATINX, OR AFRICAN- AMERICAN EMPLOYEES.
The System
The organization of Hope clinic has numerous inputs, outputs, and feedback. The facility has thirteen staff; 2
FIVE MEDICAL ONCOLOGISTS, TWO SURGICAL ONCOLOGISTS, ONE RADIATION ONCOLOGIST, FIVE TRAINED NURSES, AND A PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER. 1 THE STAFF AT THE CENTER ARE THE INPUTS TO THE SYSTEMS PROCESS. 2 THE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER IDENTIFIES AND REGISTERS TARGET GROUPS SUCH AS SOMALI WOMEN, AFRICAN-AMERICAN, AND HISPANICS. THE CENTER NEEDS THESE GROUPS TO BE REGISTERED BEFORE THE START OF A TRAINING PROGRAM. THEREFORE, THE NURSES AND ONCOLOGISTS START A VIGOROUS OUTREACH EXERCISE TO REACH THESE MINORITY GROUPS. DURING THE TRAINING APPOINTMENT AND CLASSES, THE MINORITY GROUPS LIKE SOMALI WOMEN ARE EDUCATED ON THE CHILDBIRTH EXPERIENCE AND POSTPARTUM CARE.
THE CANCER PATIENTS SELECT THE PAYMENT PLANS AND ARE ASSIGNED ONCOLOGISTS FOR MONITORING. THE OUTCOME INCLUDES A MENTALLY AND FINANCIALLY PREPARED CANCER AND PREGNANT PATIENT. 1 THE NURSES MAINTAIN TRACK OF ALL THE PATIENT RECORDS AND HISTORY. THE RECEPTIONIST’S WORK IS TO FILE CLAIMS WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANIES AS THEY INPUT FOR THE PAYMENT PROCESS. THE INSURANCE COMPANY GIVES FEEDBACK TO THE CLINIC BY APPROVING THE CLAIM. Somali mothers or cancer patients are allocated a room once they check into the center. 2 THE CANCER RADIATION PROCESS NEEDS A MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST, SURGICAL ONCOLOGIST, RADIATION ONCOLOGIST, AND TRAINED NURSE INPUT. THE EXPECTED OUTCOME OF THIS PROCESS

IS AN EFFECTIVE AND HIGH-QUALITY CANCER TREATMENT.
The surgical oncologist monitors the cancer patient during treatment. In an emergency, the radiation oncologist consults with the surgical oncologist and medical oncologist. 1 THE THROUGHPUT FOR THE CLINIC IS A MAXIMUM OF FIVE PATIENTS A DAY. THE THROUGHPUT OF THE HOSPITAL ENSURES REDUCED TIME WASTAGE AND QUALITY HEALTHCARE FOR THE PATIENTS. IN SUMMARY, HOPE CLINIC HAS THREE MAIN PROCESSES; OUTREACH, REGISTRATION, AND PAYMENT. THE REGISTRATION PROCESS NEEDS INPUT DETAILS FROM THE PATIENT AND IS DONE BY THE RECEPTIONIST. THE OUTCOME OF THIS PROCESS IS THE PATIENT RECORDS. The health care professionals at the center execute the outreach center. 2 THE OUTCOME OF THIS PROCESS IS INCREASED AWARENESS. Finally, the receptionist enables the payment at the clinic. 1 ON THE OTHER HAND, THE RECEPTIONIST FILES CLAIMS WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY FROM THE REGISTRATION DETAILS.

2 IMPORTANCE OF UNDERSTANDING SYSTEMS
1 UNDERSTANDING THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM PROFITS THE FACILITY, PROVIDERS, AND PATIENTS. Understanding the system enables healthcare providers to provide adequate care and services. 2

Page 4 of 14https://class.waldenu.edu/webapps/mdb-sa-BBLEARN/originalityRepo…ptId=e88643eb-7492-48b6-bb08-ba53efca844b&course_id=_17001847_1
ACCORDING TO PFANNSTIEL ET AL. (2019), understanding this system allows health care providers to understand their roles and responsibilities and promotes accountability. 1 ADDITIONALLY, THE HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS CAN IDENTIFY THEIR TEAM AND KNOW WHO TO CONSULT IN CASE OF EMERGING ISSUES. UNDERSTANDING THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN A FACILITY ALSO HELPS A HEALTH PROVIDER TO DETERMINE WHERE TO OBTAIN PATIENT RECORDS WHEN A PATIENT IS ADMITTED. CARING FOR A PATIENT ENTAILS THE COLLABORATION OF VARIOUS HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS WHO CONTRIBUTE TO THE PATIENT'S RECORDS. THEREFORE, THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM CAN MERGE PATIENT REPORTS FROM DIFFERENT HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS INTO ONE RECORD. Additionally, understanding systems and their dependability enable healthcare providers to be team players.
1 UNDERSTANDING SYSTEMS IN HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATIONS ALSO HELP THE SERVICE PROVIDERS TO OFFER EFFECTIVE PATIENT CARE AND PROTECTION. Learning about this system helps service providers to understand the organizational system and deliver appropriate and customized care to the patients following the system. 1 ADDITIONALLY, UNDERSTANDING THIS SYSTEM ENABLES THE ADMINISTRATION TO EQUIP THE HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS WITH THE REQUIRED TOOLS TO PROTECT THEIR PATIENTS. For example, a health care provider learns how to assist an uninsured or undocumented patient. Akmal et al. 1 (2020) FOUND THAT UNDERSTANDING THE SYSTEM HELPS A SERVICE PROVIDER TO PROTECT THE PATIENT'S RIGHTS LIKE PRIVACY. LASTLY, UNDERSTANDING THE SYSTEMS THINKING IN HEALTHCARE CENTERS FACILITATES EFFICIENT CARE TO PATIENTS.
