Nursing theory A nursing theory is a creative structure that is well researched to systematically project a tentative and purposeful view of a medical phenomenon. Nurses use nursing theories to systematically investigate health complications and provide patients with relevant and knowledgeable information (Nursing Theory, 2020). This paper focuses on Erickson's Modeling and Remodeling Theory. This theory is founded on the principle of compassionate care. It assists nurses in caring for patients with an awareness of the uniqueness of every individual patient and respecting the rights and values of every patient. It thus trains nurses to focus on the needs of patients under their care. I consider this theory to be the best for my practicum experience. Its approach to patient needs allows practitioners to treat each patient independently based on their unique healthcare needs. It also instills compassion and care in nurses as a virtue for better patient administration. This theory provides a holistic approach to patient care. It allows applying a situation approach to patient needs, which equips care providers with knowledge and understanding of patient needs (Nursing Theory, 2020). The development of this theory was informed by the need to involve patients in the care program by giving them room to understand the genesis of their condition. It allows care providers to read from the same page with the clients and thus creates an opportunity for better understanding and individualized patient care. Counseling Theory Nurses are obligated to build and maintain good relationships with patients, which is significantly important in mental healthcare services.
