Unit III
Unit 3 Introduction
Unit 3 Learning Objectives and 1 Step At A Time To Achieve Your Goals
Hi Everyone,
We are moving right along in the course. Remember, I’m here to make you better and reach your goals in life. I may push you a bit, but that is good. As my father told me “Nobody in life will give you anything, you need to earn it”. Those were wise words; I set goals for myself, worked hard, and when I faced a set back (believe me I’ve had many), I regrouped, refocused and tried again. I’m 57 yrs old and earned by doctorate degree at age 52. So, it’s never to late. Keep grinding the course out week by week. If you need to talk to me please contact me. I can certainly re-motivate you. Continue to have good student processes by reviewing my weekly announcements from current and past. Past announcements clearly are there to give you insight on writing skills, APA, and CSU’s AIV policy.
This week’s topic is team building. Every organization wants it, not many can achieve it. Why?Because it takes many components to come together through; Forming, Norming, Storming and Performing as this is the team building process or the team development stage;

Here is a great video from the Hollywood Movie “Remember the Titans” regarding the Team Building Process-Form, Norm, Storm, Perform and Adjourn. https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=hEJaz3sinEs&t=144s
Remember The Tita…
Now, look at the above picture, what is happening? What needs to happen? Imagine if they were blind folded, or the event was in the dark, or if there was only 1 flashlight to use in the dark. Where would you shine it? What I’ve done here is make you think about the situation and it is within this situation is where our content evolves for this week. How team- building activities leaders can incorporate for better managing internal teams and inter organizational alliances
Bottom line with the image provided is the situation which incorporates Problem Solving. We will also look this week at how to diagnose and solve common problems found in teams through the use of team building activities.
THIS IS NOT GOOD TEAM BUILDING
THIS IS A BETTER TEAM DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
Next week in Unit 4 we continue to build on last week’s team building activities as a leader by looking at team building activities, and how managing internal teams and inter- organizational alliances takes on extreme challenges.
Course Learning Outcomes for Unit III Upon completion of this unit, students should be able to:

Ultimately, a manager or supervisor within
an organization should be responsible for
team development. Inevitably, however,
differences among team members will arise.
Based on the team-building checklist found
on page 89 of the textbook, design a
PowerPoint presentation that illustrates your
understanding of how team-building
activities can be utilized to diagnose and
solve problems within a team. In addition,
provide examples of how these problems
can serve as detriments to team success.
Also, outline the phases of the team-
building cycle and how it can be used to
develop activities to improve team
performance.
At least two additional resources should be
used in addition to your textbook, and each
should be cited and referenced properly
using APA formatting. The presentation
should consist of a title slide, a minimum of
eight slides of content, and a reference
slide.
