Unit II
Unit 2 Introduction
Unit 2 Learning Objectives and Writing for Success
Hi Everyone!
You almost have a week under your belt here in this course. As your coach I want to remind you of the keys to success in your future weeks.
1. Ensure you watch the CSU Video that is the first announcement when you enter the course “Important Information”—“Attention: Important Message”. This is on the AIV policy regarding plagiarism, cheating, self- plagiarism, and more.
2. Ensure you read all the announcements as I reinforce the video, especially regarding SAFE ASSIGN and if you took the course previously you MUST inform me if you reuse a paper. If not, that is an AIV violation and I must submit it for action. All you have to do is tell me.
3. Writing; you will be doing that in this course so again: Introduction, Body, Summary-Conclusion.
That’s it. The above information is like a checklist, read a step, do a step, check the block. Again, it is designed to make you a success and your actions as a student easier. Remember, I’ve been in your seat multiple times: undergrad, graduate and doctoral work. I wish the professors I had in the past would have provided me steps to make life as a student easier instead of me trying to figure out rubrics cube from the start.
Below is a great video produced by the school that is worth 3 minutes of your time.
Here is your opportunity to hit a grand slam in the course every time you come to the batter’s box. Review the short video on Writing For Success produced by CSU Success Writing Specialist Megan Miller. She outlines the key points in less than 3 minutes…infact, 2 mins and 31 seconds. This under 3 minute video should raise your written scores at least a full letter grade. Have a pen and paper handy to write down her main points. This is your first step to being a MVP “Most Valuable Player” with your writing skills. Writing for Success:
Writing for Success
Writing or success is critical in any business. You have to be able to clearly communicate your message, and what better way than through a great introduction on what you will cover in the written message, a great body of the paper filled with quality content, and a smashing summary/conclusion to reinforce your message.
Last week we look at teams, what they are
made of, how they work and their
importance. This week we will look a team
competencies-what they are, as well as the
roles that are placed around and within a
team to make them more successful.
Course Learning Outcomes for
Unit II
Upon completion of this unit, students
should be able to:
2. Construct a team member skills–
motivation matrix.
3. Examine the impact of shared
leadership on team competencies.
6. Distinguish between the coaching and
facilitating roles of a team leader.
Next week in Unit 3 we begin our
examination on the topic of team building.
Every organization wants it, not many can
achieve it. Why? Because it takes many
components to come together through;
Forming, Norming, Storming and Performing
as this is the team building process or the
team development
stage; http://changingminds.org/explanations/groups/form_storm_norm_perform.htm
