The Vietnam War

Vietnam is a nation in Southern Asia located on the eastern side of the Indo-China Peninsula. After the war in Afghanistan, the Vietnam War took place, and the United States went to Vietnam in 1954. America got into war to offer financial support to Indo-China under John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson's ascertainment; however, this was not supported by many Americans. Also, the United States was stable politically, and John F. Kennedy had wanted Vietnam to have peace and unity. The Vietnam War is the second longest and discordant war in the history of the United States of America. It is also said that the Vietnam War was the costliest. The United States intensified the Vietnam War when Johnson was president by sending American military soldiers to the war since there was a Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union that was going on at that moment.

In the Vietnam War, the United States lost many billions of dollars, and thousands of its military soldiers were brutally tortured and killed. Various factors contributed to the United States' loss of the war. One of the major factors was the lack of public support. Lyndon B. Johnson campaigned that in winning a war, people must be united and have great determination and strength. However, when images of tortured and assassinated soldiers were shown on television, a great division was created among the Americans. There were violent protests, killings, and mass captivities of personnel posted in Vietnam and the United States. This shifted many people's focus, including the military. Protesters argued that the United States was supporting a corrupt authoritarian nation, and Americans were not involved in voting for the notion of letting the American military into the Vietnam War. This reason is yet to be proven by more researchers since some scholars argue that most Americans had agreed to let soldiers to war. If all Americans could unite and fight against the truth, they could have won the war.
