Instructions for the MATU 103 Signature Assignment Outline (due on Sunday of Week 4):

In Week 4, you will turn in an outline that presents the main points and preliminary references that you will use to complete your Final Signature Assignment.

Please see the Course Information page for the complete Signature Assignment Directions, including the approved topics and suggested textbook readings.

Your Outline, due on Sunday of Week 4, is worth 60 Points and should include:

1. The topic that you have selected to write on clearly identified. The approved topics are

i. Business

ii. Economics

iii. Equal Representation and Fairness

iv. Heath and Healthcare

v. Education

You may not write on a different topic unless you have received prior permission from your individual instructor. An outline that is on an unapproved

topic will receive no points.

2. At least 3 bullet points addressing the main elements that you plan to discuss for Part 1: Introduction and Historical Context, and at least one reference

(other than your textbook) that you will use for Part 1.

3. At least 3 bullet points addressing the main elements that you plan to discuss for Part 2: Summary of Mathematics, and at least one reference (other

than your textbook) that you will use for Part 2. You must identify at least one branch of mathematics that you plan to discuss in your paper. You are

encouraged to skim the suggested textbook readings (on the last page of the Signature Assignment directions) before you decide which branch of

mathematics you want to present.

4. At least 3 bullet points addressing the main elements that you plan to discuss for Part 3: Real World Applications, and at least one reference (other than

your textbook) that you will use for Part 3. You must identify at least one example of a work or community issue where the mathematics you presented

in Part 2 could be applied. You must identify at least one example of a social or economic trend that could be interpreted and/or explained using the

mathematics you mentioned in Part 2. You are encouraged to skim the suggested textbook readings (on the last page of the Signature Assignment

directions), as well as their examples, before completing this section – these sections have some good examples!
