Research Question: What actions can be taken in order to improve cybersecurity in the
workplace?

Annotation: The purpose of this source is to show that protection of a networked
industrial control system (ICS) against cyber-attacks and any other threats is something
that should be considered for a business or even government. Within the article the author
takes aim at assessing the framework and bringing some light onto the research of the
analysis and verification of the access policies with in the ICSs. The article explains the
security process of the ICSs as the systems change, high-level access policy models for
ICSs, how to check the polices using a twofold method. The author uses many different
types of scholarly references within the article from other authors, the article also consist
of many different types of figures like graphs, pie charts, and number graphs that go
along with the many different parts of the article. Part of the information used within this
article was partially supported by the National Research Council of Italy in the
framework of the flagship project “Factory of the Future,” GECKO “Generic
Evolutionary Control Knowledge-based module” subproject. (Valenzano, 2014) Many of
the sources that I have found within the cybersecurity realm are all similar in some ways.
Many of the authors point towards the fact that cybersecurity is important when it comes

to networks whether it’s small businesses, personal use, or government administrations.
With the ever growing technological world that we are living in, it is key to have your
guard up when it comes to the cyber world due to the threats of attacks done by a hacker
or terrorist threats. I think that this article shows ways for cybersecurity to be improved
through the use of access control policies, by enforcing these policies within the network
cyber security can be heightened and cyber-attacks can be lowered.

Annotation:
This article focuses on the security of information technology within the
curriculum of business school, with the end results being that the graduates of the
business school would have a better understanding of security issues within the realm of
IT networking. The article gives the topics of writing policies within the workplace,
writing procedures to ensure lawful conduct, information on the laws of IT, regulations
concerning the transmissions of data within the cyber world, and information on
copyright laws. The author of this article doesn’t give any numbers, statistics, historical
documents, but does use many different references from other articles that fall within the
same context of cyber security. The author gives very detailed information on how as a
manager to set up a company to ensure that cyber security is present and cyber-attacks
are less frequent through policies and procedures when using the cyber systems.

This article is much different from the first source that I used. Whereas, the first
source showed ways of setting up or improving the access control policy this article goes
on to give future business managers or business owners a better understanding of IT and
show the students the role of IT within a business world while still in business school. I
think that this article will help with giving me a better understanding of how to deter
cyber-attacks from a management role of a business. This article was written for students
to have and understand so that when they go out into a management role they will
understand the importance of having discipline when exploring the cyber world. At the
end of the article it gives a great statement that shows that this article is to help students
like myself, “Business school graduates should enter the workforce with a solid
understanding of the IT security issues and challenges their employers face every day.”
(Williams, 2014) With the ever growing technological world, and possible threat of
having critical information or critical infrastructures infiltrated every day, it is crucial to
make sure that others know how to better themselves with cyber security whether it be at
home or at work.

This intention of this website is to discuss cyber security through employees. While
Cyber Security is all about technology and computers, Finney opines that human resource is

critical in cyber security and must not be disregarded. The article is about ways in which the
employees can help to improve cyber security in the workplace. Generally, the article elaborates
on how the employees could be trained in order to prevent vulnerability in terms of technology.
One of those lessons includes the fact that if an employee works out of the office with a public
hotspot they must not allow any pop-ups unless they are certain about that. Additionally Finney
advices that if we are unsure about the sender of an email an employee must be keen not to open
it as it might contain malware. This website is in conformity with the research question. It builds
up on the mechanisms of improving cyber security while at the same time introducing the
element of prevention is better than cure. It highlights how cyber security in the workplace can
be heightened by empowering employees. This is in line with the threats to cyber security
discussed before. Employees handle the company’s technology a lot of time and thus the best
way to improve security is through the key users.

The purpose of this article is to develop a permanent solution to the problem of cyber
security. Just like all the other sources, the author of this article acknowledges that humans are
the weakest links when it comes to cyber security because they give away information that can
enable hacker and so on. However what the author does is that he introduces the element of
deputizing employees. The mindset behind this is that the employees become part of the security
process and they have the authority and responsibility to uphold cyber security. What this does is

It's not that unusual to find web pages that don't offer much
(or any) evidence. If that is the case, you have to look at the
authority of the author and/or the organization that published
the web page.
In this case, you have a clear indication of who the author is,
but do you have information on his educational or
professional background? If so, you need to discuss the
educational, professional or personal background of the
author that gives him or her credibility on this topic.
If it's not clear who the author is or you can't find
information on that person, look at the organization that
published the web page. What is the organization's mission?
Is it credible on this topic? Why?
If the author doesn’t provide evidence and you can't find any
information that indicates that either the author or the
publishing organization is credible on this topic, then you
shouldn't use the web page.

that it links cyber security into a long chain. Whereby if one person messes up, the other is able
to note the mistake and revert it.
This article is essential to the discussion for various reasons. It not only provides a
solution towards cyber security, it seeks to eliminate the potential threats completely. Cyber
threats will never cease to exist. However the solution proposed herein is one that seeks to curb
the effects of an attack as well as prevent intentional attacks caused by employees themselves.
Therefore this article will be used to introduce the discussion on long term solutions of Cyber
Security.

Overall, though, it seems like you provided a good
description of the content of the article. What I don’t see is
any information on the evidence that the author used to
support his statements or, lacking that, a discussion of the
author’s authority.
