Critical Reflection
UN Security Council Negotiation Simulation Position Paper
Framing/Background
As The Federation of Russia, we firmly believe that the United Nations Security Council is a crucial body aiming to maintain peace and security worldwide. The Russian Federation, as a permanent member of the UNSC, is committed to close work with other nations with the intention to address global challenges and promote stability in the world.
The Russian Federation recognise the current challenges that have to be faced by the international community, nuclear proliferation, conflict in various regions, religious, cultural and lingual discrimination, radicalisation leading to fascist regimes and major violations of minority rights. Russia acknowledges the importance of multilateralism and the need for collective action to address these challenges.
Since Ukraine left the Soviet Union at the end of the cold war, we and Ukraine had close relations, sharing similar traditions, cultures, and years of common history with the glory of the Soviet Union and Russian-speaking society. However, when in 2014, Euromaidan, influenced mainly by outside actors, religious freedom in Ukraine has been decreasing, with a growing intolerance of the Russian Language and the Russian orthodox church. This has not just been limited to the plight of the Russian Orthodox church, but also to the investigation of churches by the secret police, going as far as a Ukrainian church having to contact the United Nations due to their religious freedom being suppressed. It is intolerable that Ukraine violates the religious rights of its vast majority of citizens, especially from our Russian perspective. Russia strongly believes in religious freedom as we have followers of 8 different religions within our multicultural society.
Due to the sheer number of ethnic Russians in Ukraine, we as Russia have a duty to stand up for our people and our church, which is why we feel it is necessary we speak up here against the globalist, virtue-signalling west. It was the Russian SSR that gifted Ukraine its autonomy as a republic, and as we brought this about, we have a responsibility to make sure it does not lead to our people being repressed. The Zelensky regime is a fascist regime being a severe treat to ethnic Russians living in Ukraine.
Justification
.
Religious freedom is really at the core of self-determination, something we respect in the republics of Donbas and Luhansk, in contrast to the current NATO position on Ukraine. This is another example of NATO virtue signalling as a reason to further its imperial aims. As a great power state, we have the means and will to ensure that self-determination is fought for, and we will use whatever force we deem necessary to enforce this. We do not wish to escalate the current conflict; however, if our hand is forced, we will have no choice but to respond to escalation.
There has been a long trend of the United States and NATO interfering with how other countries run their state, after unsuccessfully attacking Russia throughout history. Yet, America and its globalist virtue-signalling allies have not respected the self-determination of states despite espousing liberal views on so-called self-determination. We must stand up for our people against NATO aggression. At least we Russians commit to fighting for our people with proper force, rather than by proxy, justified by virtue signalling and pretending to care for what is right. How can NATO pretend that this is anything other than a proxy war while NATO allies are sending depleted uranium to escalate the conflict further? Where does this stop? Short of the wholesale destruction of Russia?
We cannot stop our fight for the people of Donbas and Luhansk until This council finally respects their self-determination and, thus, religious freedom. NATO-Backed Ukraine is blocking this as they demand that the free republics that we are liberating are forcibly returned, something we cannot accept and that the Security Council should condemn.
Position
Our position in this is that religious freedom in Ukraine is under attack, as well as Russian identity, language and freedom of the Residents of Eastern and Southern regions of Ukraine that have been gifted by Russia. Ukraine failed to respect the self-determination of its own citizens, particularly in the republics of Donbas and Luhansk. The West is going against their virtue signalling by failing to stand up for self-determination in these areas, yet another example of hypocrisy from the west. If NATO and the west continue to disregard this, we will have no choice but to use our strength to stand up to them. We, therefore, call on the western-dominated Security Council to stand up for the Religious freedom and self-determination of the republics of Donbas and Luhansk. We also call on the security council to condemn the Ukrainian failure to stand up for religious freedom and those arming this attack on self-determination as part of a proxy war to further the West’s imperial ambitions.
1. Support the self-determination of the ethnical Russian people of Ukraine
2. Support and maintain freedom and Independence of Donetsk and Luhansk regions
3. Condemn the Ukrainian failure to stand up for religious freedom and self-determination
4. Condemn those escalating this conflict by sending weapons
5. Provide and implement peace in the region when Ukraine agrees to all conditions and the fascist Kyiv regime will be over
