One-Way Anova Article Review 10/14/2018
1 Introduction The study that is evaluated in this case is “Measuring implicit attitudes of 4 year old based on a preschool implicit association test. Cvencek, Greenwald and Meltzoff authored the article in 2011. The article review will focus on whether the authors provided effective information based on how one-way analysis of variance was included in the study.
Why did the authors use this one-way ANOVA test?
One-way analysis of variance focuses on a single element that is being investigated. A categorical factors variable and one continuous dependent variables are integrated in order to provide a greater understanding under which it is possible to have a positive focus on the outcome based on this analysis. Therefore, the authors in this case sought to provide a significant understanding on whether there exists statistically significant difference among four year olds through focus on the preschool implicit associated test. The group that was considered in this case was gender that focused on both male and female four year old. Creating an understanding on the attitude of four year old in preschool focus is crucial considering the fact that it provides a greater focus and understanding under which it would be easier to determine whether children are aware of key elements within their learning environment as well as detecting the differences.
Do you think it is the most appropriate choice? Why or why not?
Understanding whether a given statistical test is appropriate depends on its ability to fully provide the best response that satisfies the objectives highlighted. In this case, the authors have effectively considered the underlying assumptions in application of one-way analysis of variance, which have made it possible to have a positive focus under which it would be possible to conduct an analysis of variance and have the best outcome that represents the findings, which were being sought in the development of the study. The choice of one-way Anova statistical tool is the appropriate choice considering the understanding that the study focused on assessing if their exists any significant difference between the implicit attitudes of 4 year olds.
The variables that are being considered in this case involves two variables both independent and dependent which is one of the key factor in determining the admissibility of one-way Anova. There are a number of key assumptions that are taken into account in order to understand the validity of the statistical tool used in this case. Some of the assumptions that are considered in this case include, dependent variable should be measured at the interval or ration level, independent variable should consist of two or more categorical groups. The independent variable in this case is gender, which includes two groups. Therefore, I think that the choice of one- way Anova is the most appropriate choice considering the main objective that is being considered in this case.
Did the authors display the data?
Display of the data provides a better environment where it is possible to determine the validity of the results through review and make conclusion regarding the findings. The authors did not display any data, which would be important in providing a better environment where critical analysis would be considered. Therefore, it is difficult to effectively know if the data that was based upon in making conclusions.
The inability to provide data makes it difficult to ascertain the validity and reliability of the methods and analysis done to provide a better environment where better and quality conclusions can be conducted. However the author has provided the analysis tables which show effectively the results and thus the results made regarding the analysis tables have been significantly developed are true representation and thus provides a better environment where better analysis could be understood. 2 Therefore, the analysis has been effectively analyzed and I believe that the data that was used was reliable.
1 Does the results table stand-alone The results obtained from the study are not standalone since they are significantly engaged and reflect on past literature, which had been developed focusing on the same topic. This shows that the methodology that was considered by the author was very effective and valid which makes the results relate with other previous studies. The results of the study do not stand alone as they reflect the past studies that have been conducted. Even though the author has employed different analysis methods, the results obtained are much in line with previous results done by different authors who used different statistical analysis techniques.
