Reading Assignments: Reading assignments are usually assigned weekly. Students should complete all reading assignments for each week in preparation for discussion and quizzing during that. Failure to complete the assigned readings will affect your quiz grades and your ability to participate fully in class.

The instructor will provide this information to students both by email and in D2L before the class period.
Writing Assignments: Assignments must be completed and turned in on the due date.
- The only exceptions are for students who are sick or other events that would prohibit a student from completing the assigned work. These exceptions would be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Written Assignment Guidelines - All written assignments must be typed unless done in-class or you have received other instructions. - APA formatting is required for all papers unless another style is specified. For assistance with APA formatting,
see http://apastyle.apa.org/. - In a Word document, using 1” margins and a 12-point font such as Times New Roman or Ariel - Each assignment MUST be submitted into the assigned Dropbox in D2L by the due date. - Students have a 24 hours grace period to submit any late assignment for a reduced grade of 10 %. After the 24
hours grace period, assignments will not be accepted, and the student will receive a grade of zero. If you know you will have difficulty getting an assignment done on time, please see the instructor in advance.
- The page count for each assignment does not include the required title page and reference list - Instructions will be posted in the eLearning dropbox for each assignment outlining the topic of choice of topics,
the length expected, due date, and items that should be addressed. - Students are expected to research, organize their papers, and write clearly. - Students must provide appropriate reference citations to sources for all information provided (in American
Psychological Association [APA] style). Failure to appropriately cite sources will result in a zero for the paper and may result in referral for disciplinary action. Cheating Plagiarism Cheating, plagiarism, or other academic misconduct is forbidden. - Violations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including receiving an “F” in the course. Cheating
includes but is not limited to looking at other students’ papers during an exam, obtaining information about an exam, using unauthorized notes or help during an exam, and claiming someone else’s work as his/her own.
- Plagiarism is the unaccredited use, whether intentional or unintentional, of someone else’s words or ideas. a. Students will receive a grade of ZERO for any writing assignment that 50% plagiarized b. Verified cases of plagiarism will be submitted to the Department of Political Science and Public Affairs
and Students Affairs for appropriate sanctions. - Any document you created for another class is not appropriate for submission to meet the requirements for this class.
