4 one-page journals

Rubric for Journal Entries Student must meet a tier in the Check+ column to receive a Check+, starting with Format (Level 1), then Conceptualization (Level 2), and then with Application (Level 3). If student does not meet the first level in the check+ column, he or she will be moved to the Check column and the same process will begin again. The higher bullet points within each column will receive a higher grade within that box. For instance within the Check+ box for Conceptualization having 4 concepts clearly listed from the chapter will receive a solid A while listing only 3 concepts may receive an A-.

Conceptualization

1 Clearly listed = page numbers are cited to show where concept is found & concepts are defined. 2 Referencing content from assessment does not count as a concept listed. That info may be used in the entry, but only concepts found in the chapter and cited will be counted.

• Concepts are definitely there but not clearly defined or connected to questionnaire score

• Concept possibly included but not clear or from the wrong chapter and not connected to the questionnaire

Application

7.50 points possible per journal entry

• Clearly defined implications for how each concept applies to the student’s success in the workplace. Implications are thoughtful and detailed – they explain how you should change by applying them.

• Implications are clearly explored in depth but not connected very well to concepts. Implications somewhat thoughtful.

• Implications clearly explored for some but not all concepts. Implications not quite as thoughtful.

• Vaguely explored for how concept applies to the student’s success in the workplace.

• Implications are in the text but are implicit and hard to discern.

• No implications of concept and how it applies to the student’s success in the workplace

• Can’t even draw implicit implications from the journal entry.
