SYLLABUS WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT EXPLANATION (EXAMPLE)
Analytical / Reflection Papers (8 total x 20 points each = 160 points): Accelerated Courses must meet the same semester credit hours as traditional semester-length classes. Within this 8-week time frame I must supplement face-to-face contact with outside work and activities. Therefore, this course will weekly reflection / research papers. Every week I will give you 2 – 5 short readings (you can augment those with additional) on a topic related to that week’s presentation. I will then ask you to take a position in response to the question being asked.
Each response should be clear and concise, no more than three (3) pages, double spaced, in length. Papers should include: 1) a brief restatement of the question, the facts, and any relevant rules, 2) your position, 3) two to three statements supporting your position / argument (with proper cites – you may need to do a little research to support your position, don’t just spew rhetoric), and 4) a summary or conclusion.
DEVELOP the paper – it is DELIBERATELY short to teach you to quickly make a point. Grades will be based upon: format provided above (including grammar and spelling), actual response to the question, support of your position, integration of terms, and demonstration of knowledge and understanding.
These instructions are an example of what I want to see in your weekly papers: the font (CALIBRI or ARIAL), size (12), spacing (DOUBLE), and margins (ONE INCH ALL AROUND). Easy!
