HEA 550 Module Four Short Paper: Communicating Academic Freedom Guidelines and Rubric Prompt: In The Law of Higher Education, Kaplin & Lee (2014) distinguish “between legal and professional concepts of academic freedom; between First Amendment free expression rights and First Amendment academic freedom rights, which may overlap but are not necessarily the same; and between First Amendment rights and other legal bases for academic freedom” (p. 275). Search the web for the faculty handbook of a college or university. In a short paper, analyze how the institution’s document addresses the issue of academic freedom within the framework outlined by Kaplin & Lee (2014).
