HEA 620 Module Eight Assignment Guidelines and Rubric

Overview: In this module, you learned that budget cuts can be mandatory in managing a higher education budget. You will review the article Where Universities Can Be Cut that addresses where a university might make fiscal cuts in its administrative activities. Then, in two to three pages, you will reflect and provide your own opinions on various aspects of what was presented in the reading. This will help solidify your understanding of the important consideration of budget cutting in the budget management process. Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:

a. From the reading, identify three potential areas for cutting administrative costs. b. Elaborate on these areas, addressing specifically the following questions:

 If the operating budgets in these areas are reduced, what are the implications for the university staff?

 What are the implications for the student population?

 Should administrative budget reductions supersede any cuts in the teaching environment? Why or why not? Guidelines for Submission: Your paper must be submitted as a two- to three-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and at least three sources cited in APA format.
