FEMST 150 - Alex’s Sections - Proposal and Annotated Bibliography Rubric
Proposal and Annotated Bib = 10% of total grade, 10 points In this 500-word proposal, you will outline your plan for your final project: topic, thesis, which sources from the course you plan to draw on, etc. You will also submit an annotated bibliography with a minimum of three sources. For each annotation, in 3-4 sentences, you will explain the main argument of the piece, how it relates to your project, and why you are using it. These sources should be academic in nature.

Proposal and Annotated Bibliography Rubric - 10 points Minimum requirements:
- MLA Style Guide formatting - 12 pt. Times New Roman font - Double spaced, 1 inch margins - Proper heading and title (name, course, TA name, date) - 500 words for Proposal - 3 academic sources for Annotated Bibliography
- 1 from class, 2 can be either from class or outside source - ALL must be academic in nature
Proposal = 5 points, Annotated Bib = 5 points ---> total 10 points
Annotation and Formatting (2 points)
- Annotations summarize, evaluate, and reflect on the effectiveness of the sources
- Annotations are concise with proper spelling and grammar
- Followed exact formatting directions according to the MLA style
- Annotations are mostly summary and does not evaluate or reflect on usefulness
- MLA formatting is mostly followed
Zero points if = -no annotations -no MLA formatting
guide. Texts are cited correctly in alphabetical order, proper indentation, heading and title, correct spelling, etc.
3 academic sources (3 points)
- A minimum of 3 academic sources were used from journals in the field of Feminist studies/Gend er and Women’s Studies/ or other related fields.
- Minimum 1 source from class materials
- The sources are thoughtfully selected and are good fit for the topic of the paper
- 3 academic sources are used
- 1 source from class is used
- Sources mostly fit the topic of paper
- Sources are not academic in nature
- Sources do not meet minimum requirement (3 sources, 1 from class)
Thesis statement (2 points)
- Thesis statement makes clear argument, can be easily drawn out from rest of paper
- Thesis statement is summative, does not make a claim
- Zero points if = Thesis statement is unclear or cannot be determined
Topic and framework (3 points)
- Minimum 500 words
- Included texts and key concepts that frame your argument
- Gives detail description of topic
- Describes how the topic challenges or questions or relates to the themes of the class.
- Minimum of 500 words
- Described topic briefly but with enough detail to determine how it fits into the themes of the class
- Gives enough reasoning of key concept that will frame argument
- Did not meet minimum of 500 words
- Topic is not in-line with themes/concept s of the class
- Gives limited or no reasoning of how this relates to the class and sources used
