Introduction
• Fully explains a focused, cohesive research topic and why you are interested in it.
• Clearly shows the research questions and/or the research direction. This helps your audience understand what you wanted to learn.
• Uses some outside research to provide background information and show that this topic is relevant.

• Explain your research process, including key words, databases, the types of sources you found and why you chose them.

• Sources are synthesized to emphasize the purpose of the assignment, putting the focus on the topic rather than repeating what sources have said.
• There is a clear progression of ideas; for example, paragraphs discuss the context, different perspectives, who is affected by the issue, in what ways, and potential solutions.

• The conclusion includes the exigency of the research topic. The audience understands why they should be interested in this issue.

Rhetorical Situation
• Audience: the poster shows a clear understanding of the audience, including what the audience does and doesn’t know about the topic, how they might feel about it, and why they should care.

o Ethos: your credibility is reinforced by showing a thorough understanding of your topic, using sources ethically, demonstrating multiple perspectives, and supporting your claims with research.
o Logos: your organization is easy to follow; the topic of your research has a clear focus and scope.

• Purpose: You have maintained an emphasis on informing your audience about an issue, effectively used the research conducted in the annotated bibliography, and explained why the issue is exigent.
