Summary of the brochure
Everyone can be at the risk of depression since depression i9nvolves more feelings than the feeling of being sad. Some of the common signs of depression are feeling overwhelmed, agitated, or isolating oneself from others and having no interest in given activities. Warning signs of depression, as discussed in the article, include developing a sad feeling, having no interest in activities one was interested in, minimized interest in sex, isolation from others, developing thoughts of suicide or death, and experiencing difficulty in making decisions. Additionally, developing the feeling of being worthless or valueless is another alarming sign of depression.
As discussed in the article, the general factors leading to depression include historical family issues of depression, underlying mental health conditions, encountering stress generating life events, being traumatized, medication, and deteriorating health conditions. When one has depression, he/she needs to speak it out and initiate the program of seeking help. One can talk to friends, colleges in the workplace, family members, doctors, or people from worship places. Additionally, one can visit a doctor who is in a position to determine what happening, causes is, and help undergo the right treatment procedure.
The treatment of depression may involve therapy that involves talking, medication, being involved in support groups. As one of the strategies used in treating depression, talk therapy is effective since it helps the doctors learn more about the cause of depression and develop approaches to manage it. Taking of medicine is also another strategy in treating depression, and one is advised to disclose all information about the medicines that are taking in the treatment of depression. Additionally, different medications are used to treat depression, and one should not think that all depression conditions are uniformly treated. It is advisable to seek help from family and friends who can help meet the treatment plan's set goals. In reducing depression, the individuals are advised to take enough sleep, speed more time with people, avoid being alone, and strictly follow the daily routine.
Evaluation.
The discussion raised by the article is uniquely developed; many areas are well discussed while addressing the patients. Generally, I liked the article's discussion and think that the information given on factors leading to depressions, the importance of the treatment process, and the healing process are well developed. Some areas need improvement in the brochure. First, the article did not discuss any item on the first aid measures to identify a depressed person. Second, the article failed to provide the medication's common side effects or even highlight the most effective method of curing depression without incurring the side effects. Third, the article did not disclose information on how individuals can avoid depression. Avoiding depression are significant areas that should be discussed when creating awareness of depression.
The depression awareness developed in the brochure was interesting since it has helped me acquire knowledge of depression, treatment, and strategies to reduce depression. The information presented is beneficial to me, and I will use the knowledge acquired to create awareness for my peer counselors' organization. The information discussed was presented in simplified vocabularies that are simple to understand. I think the nursing and health care research supported the research; the information given includes knowledge of a nurse and doctors. Matters concerning developing a treatment plan and healing process of a depression patient involve nurses and doctors. The article addresses individuals who are not affected by depression; the information will benefit the non-affected. Nevertheless, the information can benefit that having depression but are yet to acknowledge. The information given will significantly increase patient safety; for instance, if one reads the article, he/she will be aware of the causes of depression and how to be safe, thus minimizing cases of suicide.
Conclusion.
Depression is more than a feeling of sadness. People may acquire depression from family issues, health condition, and stress generating activities. When diagnosed with depression, it is always to seek medical help and strictly adhere to the treatment plan. Taking enough sleep and avoiding being isolated are some of the measures in reducing depression. The brochure is important to a person at risk since it helps one learn the signs of depression, the start point of acquiring help in the journey of depression. Additionally, it helps the person learn that depression can be treated and the various treatment methods available. The information discussed in the brochure helps one develop insights into depression.
