EFINACONAZOLE (EF-IN-A-KON-A-ZOLE)

DRUG CLASS

This drug belongs to the class `Azole antifungal`

ACTION

Inhibits lanosterol 14a-demethylase which involved in synthesis of a constituent of fungal cell membranes.

DOSE INFORMATION

Once daily for 48 weeks.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

It may interact with other medicines you take. It is better to inform the doctor about outer medicines you are currently taking.

adverse effects

Itchiness, blister, and swelling. Allergic reaction in rare cases.

ASSESSMENT

Inspect the affected area thoroughly as it is slow process. A feeling of itchiness may indicate a need to continue medicine.

Patient education

The treatment of onychomycosis may take up to 48 weeks. Do not discontinue its usage even if symptoms diminish. Complete the full course as directed by the doctor. Avoid pedicure, nail enamel or any cosmetics on the affected area during therapy.

Inform the doctor if the patient is pregnant or a lactating mother. Wait 10 minutes after washing the area to apply the medicine.

NURSING MANAGEMENT

Apply Jublia on the affected toenail. Make sure the toenail is completely dry and clean prior to the application. Use a flow through brush in the applicator for the application. Make sure the effects area is completely covered with the solution.
