EVALUATOR OBSERVATION DATE 11/8/22 CLASS/GRADE TO BE OBSERVED
Biology, 9th Grade
1. (Purpose) What is the specific learning target for the lesson? Which standard(s) are addressed by this learning target?
I am working with students to find study methods that work for them. During the lesson we will go over the student created SQ3R notes and I will model what should be in the notes and ways to process their notes.
The class will also be setting up a bacteria lab and beginning a study in prokaryotic cells.
2. (Assessment) What evidence will indicate/be collected to show you and/or the students that success criteria have been met for this learning target?
SQ3R notes are turned in at the end of the week and will be checked for methods.
The lab will be conducted and scored over the course of a few days.
Eventually their will be a summative assessment.
3. (Curriculum & Pedagogy) How does this lesson fit into a unit plan or overall sequence for this concept?
The beginning of the year is a study in the chemistry of life and characteristics of life. Over the last few weeks students have learned to use microscopes and have studied viruses. Now the content shifts to types of cells (prokaryotic vs eukaryotic). We will study bacteria for examples of prokaryotic cells.
4. (Student Engagement) What student engagement strategies do you plan to use to encourage authentic, engaged participation of all students?
Modeling of notes Hands on lab activities related to the students day to day activities
5. (Classroom Environment & Culture) How will student learning time be maximized?
Smooth transitions
6. (Other) Is there any specific feedback you want from me?
