Point from the chapter: The chapter is not just the explanation of different human traits, but it is the interesting exploration of facts and attributes related to human personality. The whole chapter is interesting and I enjoyed a lot reading every word in its lines. I found three points most interesting as a requirement of this response. The first point is on page 221 and it states “Boys view other boys who play with girls as feminine, and boys do not tolerate feminine behavior in another boy. It is important for boys’ sense of masculinity to demonstrate that they are not feminine and to reject all associations with femininity. Girls, however, do not feel the same need to reject masculinity”.

External connection: I am including this point because this point elaborates a very interesting aspect which we live through our whole life but don’t notice it and don’t think why we are doing this, or why even the people in our life think about the males who live among females. I remember that when our senior passed out student in school came in our class and expressed his experience about leaving engineering and joining the commerce field. I and my friends noticed his body language and gestures as similar to that of females. After he finished his talk, I raised my hand asked him about his talking style. He smiled and said that he is changed and even feels it about himself and the reason is living among females mostly. His friends are females. So, that’s why his females-like talking style is noticeable.

Point from the chapter: Another interesting point is on 224 which states that “However, girls stand near teachers only in the presence of boys. Girls likely believe that an adult authority figure will temper boys’ dominant behavior.” This point is important to discuss because this lies exactly in the same scenario as the first above-mentioned point. Although the coeducation is not considered appropriate in some part of the world, it is a reality in male dominant societies that females need a strong guardian to feel protected and safe. On the other hand, males advocate their superiority complex in male dominant societies.

External connection: The connection to this point is the article “Asking Girls and Boys, What Would Wonder Woman Do?” published in the New York Times. The article elaborates the qualities of a wonder woman. It also elaborates the male dominance in the coeducation atmosphere and the reluctant attitude of females to challenge male dominance in the female majorities. The article also elaborates the need of females to speak up against male dominance.

Point from the chapter: The point is from the page number 236 and it states that “Researchers have distinguished between more genuine smiles (Duchenne smiles) and false smiles (non-Duchenne smiles), which can be observed by the movement of specific facial muscles”. This point is worth mentioning because we are surrounded by the fake people and fake smiles. There are people who just pose fake smile to pretend to be good with us. There are also people who have positive fake smiles because they don’t want to expose their sorrow and sadness. Such people are brave people, but my reason to include this point is those fake people who just pose fake smiles to pretend to be good with us.

External connection: The connection to this point is also an article from the article published in the New York Times. The name of the article is Trump Interrupts Call to Compliment Female Reporter’s ‘Nice Smile’. The article is really interesting. The reason to include this article is not to present the negative aspect of the personality of the president Donald Trump, but to present the connection of the smiles which people have. The female journalist posed a smile and it became a story. In return, the President also smiled and that definitely, according to the story, is a fake smile. For me, the reason behind this incident to become viral is the fake smile sharing. If these smiles were real then this incident would not have been viral. So, this point advocates that real smiles are important and fake smiles create problems.
