ONE:

Hi All,

Having never developed or been a part of a team to develop a formal growth plan/strategy for a company I am hoping to gain the skills throughout this course to gain the confidence to do so or speak up/participate in the future with my current or future organizations on such a project. I do have a personal career development plan (like a 5-10 year career plan) that I unofficially developed (not written down anywhere) for myself once that I set for myself upon completion of my undergraduate program. This personal development strategy was that I want to gain the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to position myself for opportunities to become a Commercial Lender. Some personal measures of success that have assured me that I am on the right track to attaining my personal career goal has been my ability to move into several positions within banking that has allowed me to develop skills and knowledge that will be necessary to become a successful lender (such as retail banking experience, credit analysis roles, and my current portfolio management role). I have also noticed that as my knowledge and skillset continue to develop, others have been more likely to reach out to me for my input on certain deals and projects, most notably other portfolio managers and lenders reach out to me for credit analysis questions/opinions as they may not have received the same level of formal training and experience that I have. Being a person within my organization that can be viewed as a “trusted advisor” in these roles is very reassuring to me that I am doing the right thing professionally and that as long as I continue to place importance in my personal development that I will be able to attain my career goal as well as other new future professional goals. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I look forward to working through this course with everyone!

TWO:

Hello everyone!

I have not had the opportunity to help develop a growth plan for a company or a team but I am currently working on growing for myself. By enrolling into the MBA program, I wish to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to earn my way up into internal compliance. I have set a goal to obtain my degree in a minimum of 2 years or less. In addition, the guidance provided by my department leaders as well as working alongside them to learn and discover the necessary skills needed to meet the requirements to obtain the position in the company will better prepare me to grow. Therefore, my growth strategy is to develop myself into the compliance field.
