Organizational Structure and Management Philosophy
The main organizational structure that will be used to hire great people and promote team unity is matrix organizational structure. This structure seeks to assign employees two or more supervisors in an attempt to ensure that there is effective integration of multiple dimensions of business. Under this arrangement, each supervisor will be tasked with the responsibility of directing different aspects of the employees; duties and responsibilities (Pearlson, Saunders & Galletta, 2016). For instance, a member of each matrix or department from the marketing team would have a supervisor who focuses on marketing initiatives and decisions and a different supervisor for a particular product and service line, such as investigative support. The team ember will report to both and they will all be responsible in some measures for members’ performance and productivity. For instance, the marketing manager will ensue that the employee sharpens skills related to marketing and customer care, while the IT manager will ensure that employees have developed ICT literacy skills. This structure fosters unity in the sense that it gives room for the flexible sharing of human resources and achieves the goal of coordination that is required to meet dual sets of organizational demands (Pearlson, Saunders & Galletta, 2016 It is suited for complex decision-making and dynamic and uncertain environments under which the organization operates. It promotes unity by minimizing the operational complexities of matrix organizations by enabling information sharing practice among the different managerial functions.
The main management philosophy that will be important in fostering team unity is theory Y. This philosophy uses a considerably positive belief regarding human nature and the employees’ attitude towards work and colleagues in general (Ghuman, 2010). An organization that subscribes t this philosophy presumes that average humans do not inherently dislike work. Rather, individuals perceive the physical and mental efforts while performing work as a natural activity. Under this arrangement, organizational goals and objectives are attained without instituting external controls and announcing threats of punishment. Therefore, people have the potential to exe4rcise self-direction and self-control while attaining the objectives to which they are devoted and assigned. The degree of commitment of individuals towards organizational objectives is in proportion to the size of the rewards that are related to them. Therefore, this philosophy will focus on rewards and recognition as a way of improving organizational cohesion and productivity. This philosophy will also promote the ability of employees to utilize their rationality, imaginations, ingenuity and creativity for solving organizational problems, a practice that will be widely embraced in the population and will not be narrowly distributed to a select group of individuals as it is often perceived to be.
2. Corporate Culture and Motivational Activities
Organizational culture refers to the rules, norms, and ways in which members of an organization observe in order to perform their duties and responsibilities. It can also be described as the manner in which employees and management do things within the specific contexts of the organization, and the values that lie underneath what the company rewards, supports and expects (Dawson & Andriopoulos, 2014). These include norms that relate to or underpin the policies, practices and procedures of organizations. They also take the form of meanings that incumbents share regarding what the norms and values of the organization. Royal Private Investigation agency employs a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and inclusivity. This culture is reflected by its major core values, which include leadership and transparency (Dawson & Andriopoulos, 2014). The organization also promotes people’s ability to understand, embrace, and operate in a multicultural environment within the marketplace and in the workplace. This fosters the culture of cohesion and diversity as necessary ingredients in the realization of innovativeness and creativity as competitive tools.
In light of the above, there are several motivational strategies that the firm employs in order to maximize the performance and productivity of workers. The main methodologies that are often utilized to translate motivation into performance include work design, promotion of participation in decision-making, employee empowerment through training and mentoring, and provision of alternative work arrangements (Griffin & Moorhead, 2011). The provision of flexible reward systems is also important in promoting motivation and improved performance. For instance, the company is planning to introduce flexible or cafeteria-style reward systems that are a form of variation from the standardized compensation mechanism. Having a flexible reward system provides employees with the opportunity to selection he combination of benefits that best suit their needs. For instance, young employees who are just beginning might prefer to have a strong health care coverage with few deductibles. On the other hand, workers with few years of experience normally prefer to have more child care benefits. Further, midcareer employees with more financial security normally prefer more time-offs with pay. Older or elderly employees may prefer a flexible reward system that is more focused on the retirement plans.
3. Operational Strategies
The organization will embrace an operational strategy that will be instrumental in promoting efficiency and effectiveness in all its activities. The first strategy that will be used is the functional strategy that will serve as a game plan for each specific department or unit in the business. In all these functional units, actions, approaches, and practices will be set and adhered to in order to efficiently manage the business environment. Action plans will be embraced by leading departments within the organization in order to support the business strategy to attain the business’s objectives. This will mainly seek to focus on improvement goals of selected services by examining external markets and consumers, assessing and defining their present and future requirements, and examining internally at the organization’s current stakeholders. Flexibility standards will be introduced in order to improve the organization’s capacity to produce and offers services that meet customers’ specifications. This suggests product differentiation attributes and offering trade and customer support services. The efficiency f daily operational activities will be improved by introducing plans such as scheduling criteria,. This will require sufficient budget but will not be at liberty or create the budget.
4. Technology and Competitive Advantage
The organization will utilize technology as a tool to improve competitive advantage over similar rival firms within the industry. In this regard, appropriate technologies will be applied to the company’s endeavors by employees who will be trained appropriately to utilize the technology (Porter, 2011). The firm will also take into account factors such as location, se, maintenance, modifications, and time value consideration to support decision-making using technological systems. Competitive advantage will be attained by using technology to create new products or seek new technologies to generate and market them. Technology will also be utilized as a tool to improve the organization’s operational efficiency (Porter, 2011). This is because technology will reduce operational costs and time, including workloads, and reduction of human-related errors. Technology will also be utilized to support decision-making by executives and managers. This will be particularly important when it comes to making strategic decisions that will give the firm a competitive edge over its rivals within the same sector. Most significantly, the organization will utilize technology to undertake marketing intelligence initiatives. This will be realized by utilizing technological tools that seek to analyze emerging and changing marketing patterns and trends, and predicting their consequences on the organization’s competitive status. By assessing these patterns, the company will be informed on the right decisions to take to improve its competitive status.
