Community Investment Program
The community project aims at supporting the fight against drug distribution and abuse.
It takes the approach of community policing enhancement.
The primary targets are the African Americans and the Latinos.
The community investment project aims at fighting against drug distribution and abuse, especially among the African Americans and Latinos. This is because there have been claims that the fight against drug distribution and abuse has been marred with racist tendencies (Cole, 1999). The program pursues the concept of community policing, with the target of reducing rebellion and lack of trust among between the community and enforcement agencies, which in essence has derailed the efficacy of the fight against drug abuse.

Target Areas
The community project pursues the concept of community policing (Cordner, 2014).
Cooperative community education.
Alteration the discriminative criminal justice policies.
Comprehension of factors associated with drug distribution and abuse.
The concept of community policing is very critical in the community investment program. Cordner (2014) explains that the goals of community policing are in agreement with drug control strategies or policies seeking alternatives to incarceration and arrest, especially in cases where users are concerned. For the longest time, social service agents and community-based organizations have argued that the use of illegal drugs is a public health problem requiring an expansion of community-based prevention and treatment programs (Cox & Cunningham, 2017). It is also argued that the criminal justice policies have also been discriminative in handling cases related to drug distribution and abuse. The project therefore, aims at altering the discriminative practices of criminal justice system which have led to lack of trust and rebellions. This is critical in ensuring proper cooperation among the involved parties. Furthermore, the improvement of the understanding of the factors which are associated with drug abuse, which include; depression and/or stress as well as behavioral and social complexities.
