Introduction
Have you watch the news or seen a political ad on Facebook recently? Things still look the same in our world today. Its still not United. All the division are still there. The government of the United States divides the country through race, media and social class. Division through race results from discrimination of a given race and favoring another race. The division will therefore be between the favored and the discriminated race. Through the media, the government makes it clear that some group of people is favored than the others hence leading to the division between the groups. Social Class also contributes to the division in the country when a region or a group of people are considered important than the others such as lower-class and Higher- Class The United States is being divided instead of United because the governments bias systems that are in place that polarize us through media, placing citizens in different social classes, and labeling us by different races.
There is division in the United States where some groups are discriminated whereas others are favored. The division is greatly created by politics of the country and how the government serves its people. Though the government is trying o treat all the citizens equally, it is not possible because the government officials are serving them differently based on their differences. The division therefore is between citizens of different races, social classes and gender. Some of these factors have been addressed but the main one that has been addressed is gender where equality is emphasized in the way both genders are served by the government. The thesis therefore s that division of the country results from how the government is serving its citizens and the groups discriminated will be separated from the groups that are favored by the government. The common group being discriminated on racial grounds is the black Americans. Also, the social class also contributes since the well off in the society is favored yet the low class members of the society are discriminated.
Body
To understand that there is division in the country, consider how people are served by the government and after the discrimination during service delivery, the reaction of the discriminated is observed and this indicates that they do not want to be associated with those who are favored. In instance is that black Americans, the group perceived to be discriminated since it is considered to be inferior to the whites does not associate with the whites since they feel that they do not belong together since they do not receive the same services from the government. The government should therefore serve them equally and without any group being discriminated, then the cases of divisions within the country will reduce ("Adams vs. Jefferson: Divisions in the Nation’s Foundations?," n.d., p.).
Another cause for division is social class where the upper class and the lower class members of the society are divided. The reason for the division is that when the government is offering services to the citizens, those who are given priority are the upper class citizens and this contributes to the divisions in that the lower class feel that they do not share anything in common with the upper class citizens. This therefore will lead to the division among them since they will not agree in anything regarding their lives. The government should therefore make an effort o ensure that all the citizens irrespective of their social class are serve equally thus helping in reducing cases of divisions in the country.
Counter Perspective
It is no true that the government contributes to the divisions in the country through the way it serves its citizens. All citizens are served and even though they might not be served in the same way, the citizen should appreciate that they are receiving services from the government. Divisions therefore in the country do not result from how the government is offering the services but due to how different groups perceive each other. The issue of superiority and inferiority among the groups is the main reason for the divisions in the country ("Second Amendment Dilemma – Social and Political Divisions over Gun Control in the United States," n.d., p.).
Conclusion
It is true that there is division in the country and hence the government needs to address the issue instead of encouraging divisions through the politics done in the country. The common divisions that have been witnessed are the divisions between races and social classes within the country. The government should therefore come up with ways of addressing the divisions hence ensuring that all citizens are united irrespective of their differences.
