Guidelines with Grading Rubric
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to explore the role of the DNP prepared nurse with regard to
incorporation of evidence-based practice into an organizational setting. Consideration should be
given to the nurse leader’s ability to effect change in an organization, and how the changes can be
evaluated to determine whether outcomes were met. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing
Education’s (CCNE) DNP Essential VIII can be used as a guide when analyzing the role of the DNP
in EBP.
Course Outcomes
Through this assignment, the student will demonstrate the ability to:
#1: Evaluate evidence based approaches to delivery of leadership services in nursing in applicable
practice settings.
#3: Explore methodologies to improve student and/or patient outcomes through dissemination of
evidence based practice.
#5: Appraise evidence and apply it to policy development in the nursing leadership arena.
#6: Employ communication skills and the spirit of inquiry, nursing judgment, professional identity,
and collaborative skills in the development of practice models.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. To complete this assignment, you will need to access to the following databases: PubMed,
CINAHL, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and other resources in the Jay Sexter Library.
These data bases can be accessed through the Touro Online Library http://tun.touro.edu/jay-
sexter-library/
2. The Roles and Responsibilities Practice Paper is worth 200 points and will be graded using
the designated rubric. Grading criteria include quality of content, appropriate citations, use of
Standard English grammar, and overall organization and readability.
3. Create your assignment using a Microsoft Word application. The document should be saved
in a .doc or .docx format.
4. The paper should be 3 to 5 pages in length excluding title page and reference pages.
5. APA format is required.
6. Discussion of the role of the DNP prepared nurse leader in implementation and evaluation of
evidence-based practice in an organizational setting should be included.

3. Examine the CCNE’s recommendations regarding learning outcomes and competencies for the practice doctorate and consider how these concepts could guide the DNP in the appraisal,
implementation, and evaluation of EBP.
4. Synthesize your ideas and decide what you want to focus on in your paper. The following can be chosen as a focus of the paper:
1. Evaluating therapeutic interventions based on nursing science in an organizational setting.
2. Developing a plan for sustaining therapeutic relationships with patients and other professionals to facilitate follow-up care and optimal patient care outcomes.
3. Establishing a plan to assist bedside nurses to incorporate a specified evidence- based practice into their daily care routines.
5. Write an introduction that summarizes this. Formulate a thesis statement that provides a summary of what will be explored in the paper.
6. Using your text and scholarly inquiry as a guide, write about the DNP prepared nurse’s role in appraisal of EBP. Consider how the DNP Essential you researched (Essential VIII) support
