INTRODUCTION

This Handbook is prepared with resources to help guide you in producing a successful project worth 16% of your grade.

Summary of Submissions

Group Portion Format (12% of grade):

· Cover Page

· Your Group Member Names

· Location of presentation and rationale for the choice

· Area of Insurance industry targeted online/other resources (give URL and dates of accessing)

· Describe weekly group activities

· Rationale for the use of those resources

Individual Report Format (4% of grade): (3 pages maximum, excluding the cover page and appendices. This MUST be different for each student as it is based on your own views and reflection).

· Cover page (include your name and below your group name and members)

· Journal and Reflection Statements (described at the end of the Project Guide)

BACKGROUND

The assignment has been designed so that students can achieve the following course and program learning objectives:

1) Apply concepts relevant to risk mitigation and insurance industry.

2) Analyze and research how specific issues related to insurance, affect or are affected by the economy, politics and global and local communities.

The Insurance Project-What Is It?

Your over-arching goal is to investigate the type of knowledge and skills necessary for success in the insurance industry. This project requires a team effort to make it to a successful completion.

GROUP DELIVERABLES:

1. Names of individuals of interviewers

2. Client evaluation sheet

3. Research the industry you have chosen including job opportunities, career paths and necessary educational and professional credentials.

Supervisor Evaluation Form (This is required. Your group supervisor should be a senior person at the location where you are presenting. He/she can either use this form but printed on letterhead or design a letter on their own providing an assessment of the group’s efforts.
