MICE events and technology
1.0 Introduction
The current generation mostly interacts with the technology most of the time in their daily activities. MICE (meeting, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) events have also benefited from the use of technology especially the internet. The research found that by the year 2025, 75 % of the working population will be the millennials, individuals born not later than the 80s who have spent most of their lives on the internet (O'Brien, 2014). Therefore, these individuals prefer working from their home and deliver their work via an internet connection. Traditionally, the MICE events take place at a particular location where the parties involved and probably share a mutual goal meet and discuss the issues affecting them. Therefore, people would travel from different places and converge in a particular location where the event is taking place. These events are planned way back to give enough time for the facilitators and attendants time to prepare for the event. Usually, transport issues and other problems affect the events’ success. Also, since some of the events attendants are not residents of the place where the occasion is taking place may face accommodation challenges which may result in traveling to other nearby areas, hence increasing the cost involved in the overall cost of the event.
1.1Objectives
The objective of the study is to evaluate the importance of technology in revolutionizing MICE events so that they are more effective as compared to the traditional ones. The research shall base its objectives on the numerous instances where the MICE events have benefited through the use of the current technology. The results of the study will include an assessment of how the MICE is with the use of technology.
1.2 Statement of the problem
The organizations across all the existing industries require MICE events for their numerous functions. This means the events that contribute to the success of the main goals of a particular organization bring together individuals of similar interest. For instance, meeting among the leadership of any organization ensures the discussion of the organization's on essential topics. The leaders or stakeholders involved have to fit in a particular place to discuss the issues touching the organization. The second example, the organizations give tokens to well-performing individual or clients who have trust in the organization to motivate them to do more. The incentive is given in an organized incentive event where the stakeholders meet to perform the function.
There exist problems when conducting MICE events that could affect their success. The organizations need an improved way to hold MICE events to improve the quality of their operations. The improvement can happen through the use of various strategies patent to a given organization. According to Thomas & Bowdin, 2012, organization usually carry out the events oblivious of the challenges associated with them such time consciousness, accommodation in case the activities take place in far places, and cost associated with the events such as transportation and accommodation costs. Therefore, an improvement in the mode at which the activities are conducted is of importance.
The technology revelation that has touched every aspect of a human being has not left the MICE events; in fact, it is the biggest. Nevertheless, the problems still existing in keeping up with the technology because of its dynamicity, managing accommodations, and in the arrangements of virtual and distance meetings (Sasrawan Mananda & Leli Kusuma Dewi, 2018). The solution to the problems lies in the use of active and reliable technology. The primary issue is the use of the technology; we should consider that technology is changing at a faster rate than most industries are behind in the implementation and find themselves that by the time they implement the most recent consider technology, another one is already in the market.
The MICE events are crucial, and they are required to be more efficient and effective for organizations to succeed in their operations.
1.3 Purpose of the study
The purpose of the study is to find out the extent to which the use of technology has impacted the performance of MICE events. Since the invention of contemporary technology especially the internet, much has changed on how the effects are conducted. Currently, information technology is shaping the operation in almost all existing industries. Also, the increase in the rate of adoption of the information technology means that artificial intelligence will overcome human knowledge which will lead to the automation of every action that human could do. The study will thus concentrate much on the influence of the information technology.
1.4 The significance of the study
The study is significant for those organizations that are planning to implement the use of the MICE events in their daily operations when the need arises. The researches aim to find out how technology has impacted the use of the MICE events and provides ways that can enhance their performance further. Secondly, the study is essential for identifying technological issues associated with the MICE events and strategies for resolving the problems. The MICE events have been around for many years, and they have gradually evolved to suit the emerging and changing technologies. Therefore, the study would provide ideas through which the firms using the events can improve them to meet the emerging technological advancements.
1.4 Research hypothesis
The study aims to establish support for the theory that the use of the technology in MICE events related function can significantly enhance the service delivery in organizations as well as benefiting those organizations that are entirely significant in the provision of MICE events.
1.5 Research questions
Apart from finding the theoretical support for the hypothesis mentioned, the research will also seek to find answers to the following questions.
1. How could mobile technology be used to enhance the effectiveness of MICE events?
2. How firms in various industries implement technology in their MICE events?
3. What are the main issues that MICE events face as they try to implement the advanced technology and what are the solutions to those issues?
2.0 Literature Review
2.1 History of MICE Events
The understanding of MICE events come in two categories, first is the growth of an industry that specializes in them and the second is the ways that the organizations could incorporate MICE events in their operations especially those that have diversified and internationalize their business operations. According to O'Brien, MICE industry growth rate is so first that most of the entrepreneurs and investors are considering because of the high profits associated with the business. Tourism is one of the industries which have successfully implemented the use of MICE events in their operations.
There are no records that indicate the time the MICE events were introduced; the industry has evolved with the evolution of the industries in the global arena. Therefore, we can deduce that the events existed and developed together with the traditional form of business and gradually adopted the use of technology together. The events were within the organization before the invention of internet or information technology but after an industry on its own emerge, but also firms continued theirs.
The growth of the MICE industry has had a positive impact on the development of the global economy. It has contributed to the generation of revenue through the enhancement of business in various sectors. According to Quintana T, 2015, the tourism industry leads in the implementation and use of MICE events because of the higher spending rates per head associated with it. Also, research shows that more than 43 % of all spendings goes to the tourism and travel industries. This increase is due to the effective implementation of the events. The sharp growth of the MICE events happened through the impact of the technology. According to Thomas & Bowdin, 2012, technological advancement introduced ways through which the events could be conducted efficiently and effectively. Before the technological revolution, the events faced numerous challenges which usually harmed the business. The use of technology brought a revolution to the industry and saw a sharp increase. The increase in internet users increased improved the serveries of the MICE events. Quintana T, 2015also found the decline in the baby boomers’ generation employees and rise in the millennials will significantly boost the use of the internet hence increase in mice events.
The millennials were born when the internet and information technology was introduced; therefore, they have been around with the improvement of the internet. Research indicates that by 2025, 75 % of all the active employee will comprise of the millennials; thus the most of these jobs will be conducted via the internet where the employees will be working from the comfort of their homes. The increase in the use of technology in MICE events will thus be a must for every firm. MICE planers will benefit immensely through the use of this technology.
There is an increase in the use of mobile devices with capabilities similar to those of a computer. These hand-held devices are very beneficial to the MICE events planning and management. For instance, the events attendants could use some of the mobile applications to locate where the event is taking place. For example, the google maps can show the user the location of the event is taking place as well as give them the direction to the particular event. The, an increasing number of mobile users as well as the advancement in the software applications used will significantly improve the MICE events by connecting the interested parties distributed in various location together (Olivero, 201).
The technology impact has not only impacted the way the MICE events are conducted, but it has enhanced the attendee's experience. According to Olivero, the attendee expectations in a particular event have significantly improved in recent years because of the impact of technology. The event planners through the use of technology have managed to change the audience passive the audience to active participants in an event. Some of the ways through which the audience are engaged to include polling, contest, and social curations. The technology enthusiasts have taken ideas from the events and converted them into a software product that could be used for the events management in engaging the audience.
Some of the leading social media currently used in MICE events include Facebook and Twitter. The event's participants use these social media platforms to engage with each other in real time. Therefore, planners can monitor the participants’ engagements and control them. Some of the functions that the event planners can use to manage the participants include: registering to penalize to the control of the site by confirming new members of the events and giving important notifications (Olivero, 2014). For instance, the planners of a particular event can place photos of a given even, twit the venue where a specific event will take place, or also award prices to some participants.
Communication is another impact of the technology on MICE events where the planners or speakers of the MICE event can communicate with the participants. It is now possible for the event's participants to communicate directly with the speakers. For instance, the speaker could use the hyper-intelligent private system to send results specific. In case of a discussion, the participants could seek permission by directly requesting for a chance to contribute to the topic through the use of software technology. Olivero found the technology has immensely helped to the enhancement of the interaction between the participants as well between the participants and moderators which has provided the participant’s experiences in the event.
The big data has touched on almost all aspects of life. The firms collect a large amount of data from the event's participants which might cause a lot of problems if the event plans do not consider using technology to manage such data. This technology allows the event planners to personalize the data through the use of if data when responding to participants on the micro level. The plans access their participants and evaluate what they like based on their preferences. Kang, Tang, & Fiore, 2014, suggests that the event plans can categorize their participants depending on their preferences and demographic and place them in small groups for easy management.
Also, the personalization of the data as enable the event organizers to interact with the event participants through the use of their mobile phones. For instance, the planner's user beacons technology that detects the attendants’ mobile devices and delivers the relevant information by notifying and displaying the information on the screen of the intended participant.
2.2 MICE events theories and concepts
The events in society have been crucial through ringing people of different divides to celebrate together or do something that will bring benefits to the participants. Some of the research has studied the history of events and brings them about. Though some of them happen with the knowledge of the individual, a few of the happens without any plan and in some other cases with occurrences of incidences that require the performance of those events. According to Francisco, 2017, events sometimes occur without any organization but when they happen the participants’ concentration and dedication results in the success of such events.
The MICE events have nearly similar characteristics in the mode I which they are conducted. They were grouped after close analysis of their differences as well as the similarities where it was found that the events could be group together to find out the technologies that could be implemented on all the techniques together without any significant alterations. Needham, 2016 found that all MICE events could be applied to all organizations. These events are a product of the organization daily business.
The events come as a result of the occurrence of independent factors that requires organizations to immediately address to avoid them affecting the daily operations of the organizations. However, some events are organized and done by the organization for specific purposes. The organized events take a lot of time to plan and make the necessary preparation while the emerging events take the smallest time possible because their results are required immediately to solve the problems arising Francisco, 2017. Therefore, the use of technology in MICE events has improved the way the events are conducted which will help the participants to archive the target goals more efficiently.
2.2.1The search engine and MICE events
The search engines are some of the technologies that have significantly boosted the MICE events in line with emerging technology. These search engines locate important information saved in a different location with the shortest time. The MICE tourism event is one of such events that have benefited from the search engine by allowing the participants to find more information about the tourism destination. Some examples of the leading search engines include Google and ping. The search engines use a complex algorithm to compare the search items with all available resources on the internet and display them according to their relevance ("Meeting and Event Technology for Design, Planning, and Evaluation," 2016).
2.2.2 World Wide Web
The World Wide Web which is usually abbreviated as WWW is an internet service that used for browsing the available website in the connection. This resource is essential in providing an approach to conducting events. According to Kang, Tang, & Fiore, 2014, the World Wide Web comes as a result of the dynamics in the information technology field that resulted in the development of the web. 2.0 where each performs a unique function; the web 2.0 provides tools and services whereas the web pages display information on the searchers' devices such as the computer or a mobile device. The World Wide Web has been a piece of critical information towards the development of the MICE events.
2.2.3 The Internet and MICE Events
The resources located in numerous location around the globe are connected through the use of internet resources. Thus the internet is a connection between computer resources located in different places globally. The purpose of the link is essential in connecting participants of particular event whoa are located in different geographic location and are not able to converge physically. According to Needham, 2016, a very strong network connection is required whenever the events are conducted in a different location in real-time. The disruption of the network connection could also affect the conduction of the events. The internet allows the event to interact with the audience and approve event through the discussion of the significance of the event organizers and manipulation of the present aspects through the utilization of the web 2.0 tools.
2.3 Disadvantages of MICE Events
Many research studies only concentrate on the positive impact of the MICE events, but also there are some disadvantages associated with these events. Some of these demerits are common in all areas where the technology is applicable. One of the weaknesses of use technology in the events the increase in the unemployment rates associated with them. The issue has raised a debated on whether the technology leads to unemployment or not provided the work some of the techniques do not function unless on their own without the presence of human resources. According to Kang, Tang, & Fiore, 2014, the use of technology updates the old jobs by introducing new and improved ones, and ideas that are opposed by Francisco, 2017 who cites technology result in the increase in the unemployment rates because the number of people requires to control a given technology are far much few as compared to the number of laid-off individuals.
The technophobia is other disadvantages as in connection to unemployment. The fast changing technology brings fear to the user since some of the individuals shy away from using technology because these technologies require expertise and skill to operate. The individuals born before the invention of the significant current technology are the most affected by the fear of new technology. According to Davidson, Alford, & Seaton, 2002, this individual does not have confidence in the technology and would rather stick to their old methods of solving the problems. He states, even after the technology has produced the results this individual go the extra mile to confirm the credibility of those results. Therefore, these individuals who never experience the technology in their earlier lives hold top management positions in an organization make it difficult for the suggested technology implementation.
The MICE events industry is still new, and most of the people are still researching to gain more information about the importance of the industry and the way they perform. Therefore, a new field, the MICE vents industry is still susceptible to changes that might affect their implementation which can adversely affect the organization hat rush in implementation. The incorporation of the technology the MICE events has further worsen the situation by increasing the rate at which the events change. Therefore, most of the organization give so much attention to details to establish the importance of technology in the MICE events and how they are added to the technology Buathong & Lai, 2017. The firms do this to avoid incurring cost in the technology that would not last. These delays in the implementation have contributed to the new MICE event industry where the affiliate organization fails to implement but rely on the industry for implementation guidance.
2.4 The technology acceptance issues with MICE
The adoption of the technology I the MICE industry is a problem because of some issues within the firms themselves. For instance, the meeting event requires the use of technology such as the audiovisual systems, the interpretation systems, lighting system and the projection facilities that have been implemented effectively without any issues because the meeting was thought to be high-touch. Therefore, the industry has overlooked the importance of technology that would result in firms being high-tech through the use of sophisticated current technologies. Leong, 2010, states that both high-tech and high-touch are mutually exclusive and the firms concerned should embrace both equally.
The technological innovations occur with a target to some specific areas in the implementation of the technology. Therefore, on the invention of one technology, issues arise the adoption level which includes the planning, arranging for a meeting with the owner and the attendee and other meeting planners to assess the viability of the technology. The challenge that comes as a result of the adoption is a result of the influence of many variables such as demographic profiles, personal characteristics, preferences, education at the personal level, and corporate culture, hierarchy, the business philosophy at the organization level Leong, 2010. Disagreement among these variables might result in the problems associated with the adoption of the technology.
Some of these issues come as a result of the complexities that come with the involved technology which discourage the MICE companies from implementing the technology. Francisco, 2017, found that most of the techniques are so sophisticated that most of the firms in the industry get discouraged. For instance, some of the software application already trained individuals to operate of which some of the firms do not readily have. Some of these technologies are hardware and firms are not ready to discard their old ones to acquire the new ones.
The organization culture is very crucial when implementing technologies that seem to boosts its operations. According to Francisco, 2017, the organization attitude in the primary driver in the organization and should still be considered by the organization when determining the type of technology that should be implemented. This should be boosted through a thorough and exhaustive explanation of the technology concerned to convince the organizations' management of its importance.
The government and other established world agencies stipulate policies that make it mandatory for the organization to comply with their plans. A certificate might be awarded to the firms that have proofed the adherence of the low. The research on the adoption of the plans by most of the firms shows that the majority of the firms do not like some of the systems placed on their businesses. Therefore, some of the invention of the technologies that seek to improve the operations of the MICE but due to the fact some of the technologies infringes the policies and laws covering the design and implementation of the techniques that would impact negatively on the lives of humans.
The technology advancements are very expensive when they are first introduced due to the high demand. These high costs of the technology could discourage firms in the MICE industry from adopting the technology. For instance, the virtual reality is used by firms use for conducting meetings are costly considering the cost of equipment associated with such technology as well as the cost of operating them is high. Also, this technology uses multiple resources to connect participants from different locations. Salovaara & Tamminen, 2008, found that the cost of operating virtual reality is high as compared to the holding meeting from a specific area. However, Olivero, 2014 did not consider the individual cost that the participants incur to attend such meetings. Also, some costs such as the acquisition of the equipment happen only once and are never repeated unless some improvements to such technology are needed.
A research was conducted to find out the cost that organizations incur in acquiring new technology against the time that those technologies take before they become absolute and new technologies introduced in the market. The result of the research indicated that most firms spend a lot of resources researching the appropriate technology and also in implementing such technologies. This cost could be recovered in the entire period they are in use before another better technology is introduced. Leong, 2010, says that the reasons why technology becomes obsolete so fast are contributed by the speed at which better and reliable ones are introduced in the market. Also, there is no way the old technology could be improved to match the emerging technology making it necessary for the firms to acquire the new once even if their costs are high.
MICE events target the technology that enhances the interactivity among the event’s participants. This careful selection of the best technologies that shows that the events are looking to change the way through the events is conducted. Global Positioning Systems (GPS) is the leading technology that has revolutionized the events. According to Davidson, Alford, & Seaton, 2002, GPS has improved the way through the event’s occurrence by locating the position of the event's participants. Therefore, the participants can take part in particular events regardless of their locations. The event planners only monitor the engagement of the participant through a centralized system.
MICE events take place in areas that where the events planers agree on depending on the type of events; some events require physical meetings along with a moderator. The moderator foresees and controls the happening the functions taking place in those particular events. This function can be done effectively through the use of drones. According to Buathong & Lai, 2017, to drone technology allows the planers to take real-time videos of the location and what the events’ participants are doing in the field. Therefore, the planers can monitor the events from any place.
We are shifting from the hand-held technology to wearable devices which is essential in ensuring that the ease of use. Technology has internet capabilities and allows the holder to capture every information taking place. Even though it is a new technology and MICE events are figuring how it will incorporate in their events. According to Davidson, Alford, & Seaton, 2002, most MICE events are targeting devices such as Google Glass which is the first wearable device. This device can let the participants engage in events with a lot of ease. Music festival events are some of the main areas where the events have been successfully implemented.
The MICE events are almost shaping all industries to be revolutionizing how those industries conduct their crucial events. The travel industry is one of the industries that has implemented the MICE Event technology through MICE Travel. These events are characterized by their ability to connect to groups through various travel and conferencing services. These events take short periods while others take long periods depending on the type of event. According to Francisco, 2017, the travel industry provides two services: travel and conference services. The travel MICE events have an affiliation with large cooperation conduct the events. Therefore, Travel MICE is like an intermediary between the corporation and the participants.
The affiliation of the MICE events ad large organization is essential in easing the burden that the organizations face when organizing the events on their own. According to Needham, 2016, the events that organizations plan have slim chances of succeeding since they are marred with a lot of shortcomings such as poor attendants, inadequate resources, poor presentations and high cost associated with planning such events. The meeting is one of the events that usually suffer much as a result of the shortcomings that the organization face when trying to implement the MICE events. Therefore, the use of technology has far many benefits in ensuring that the events are appropriately conducted.
Tourism is the second industry that has successfully implemented mice events through. Tourism involved visiting various places and for leisure. It can be an event where individual of similar objectives come together and organize tourism events. Therefore, the MICE events can be used successfully to connect an individual’s tourist while they are on their mission. The Tourism MICE events bring together individuals of similar objects in the purpose. The connection created to allow them to move from one place to another as a group and also engages with each other through the use of the technology such as the GPS (Davidson, Alford, & Seaton, 2002). The tourism MICE events fall under the incentives events where most of the cooperation award their employees who in turn look for employees from other companies with similar privileges.
The MICE travel and tourism are some of the industries which they have successfully implemented the use of GPS. The two sectors involve the movement from of place to another where the majority of the participants have never been to those places. The GPS uses google maps to navigate from one destination to another. Also, this GPS is equipped with a sound that directs travelers. For instance, in a visit to a game reserve located in some interior parts of Africa, the participants of the event will be guided by the GPS as they navigate from one destination to the next one with a lot of comfortable. Therefore, the tourist will not require an atlas to navigate ("How Technology is changing the MICE industry," n.d.). However, the system is disadvantageous because it requires the use of internet connection ad some of the places where the tourist decides to visit the game parks and reserves have poor next which might render the technology inactive.
3.0 Methodology
3.1 Research approaches
The success of research depends majorly on methods used for data collection and analysis. Also, the quality of research requires one to have personal knowledge apart from experience. The deep understanding of the research top will allow the researcher to identify the most appropriate approach to conduct their research. A literature review is one of the important sources of information that the researcher would consider before shifting focus to conducting the research personally. According to Tarone, Gass, & Cohen, 2013, receiving the literature from the various study will give one in-depth knowledge of the required information to their studies. There are various studies that have been conducted on the topics related to the impact of the technology on the MICE events. Some of them only concentrate on one topic while others concentrate on all the four events.
Some of the researchers have argued that the success of particular research depends on the implementation of some particulars steps throughout the whole process. These steps could be explained well through the use of a flowchart. Tarone, Gass, & Cohen, 2013, found it is not necessary for one to flow the whole process to archive the target research goals as some of the research do not require some of the steps. However, this process is essential for because it states clearly the steps required and how one is required to do them in order to realize the success. Also, the other reason why the research requires clear and distinct process is because of the fact the process of conducting research has a different purpose that requires one to explicitly conduct each process following unique steps towards the achievement of the process goals.
The study also made of the formulating or exploratory research in the research process where one gathers an understanding, identifying trends and my conclusions. This method is the best considering that the use of the technology is still new in the field and there it is still under research and study. The method is thus essential when one is trying to find more information on the subject of the study. The method uses various methods based on the primary and secondary methods of data collections. The data are raw and thus need analysis for study and to arrive at a conclusion. Surveys are the primary methods of data collections which enables of to gain data on the insights from the people with vast knowledge on the topic of the research. Other methods used for conducting exploratory study include the interviews and the use of questionnaires. conducting research is a rigorous process where one is required to use knowledge and wisdom to translates concepts for them to be used to provide evidence to given research.
3.3 Secondary research
The secondary reassert involve the already collected, analyzed, and finding recorded on the research topic. These are the information that is obtained from reviewing the already existing literature review. Majority of the research prefer the use of the primary data to collected to gain insights on the information recorded rather than the secondary data have been already recorded in of the research papers, government reports, and academic journals. The secondary methods were selected because of the advantages associated with them which include reduced cost and saves the researchers on time to conduct the research. Primary data collection is the essential method preferred by the majority because it enables one to again fast hand information on the research. It is important to put into consideration the research sample, research design when deciding on a suitable method of collecting data. The primary data is important in catering data whose analysis would result in the finding of a solution that would be used to address the main subject topic of the research. According to Ruppel & Mey, 2017, the primary method of data collection is the most important method with the lowest cost associated and flexibility required to allow its results to be implemented to other similar research topics. Lastly, Ruppel & Mey, 2017 found that the data collected through primary methods are credible and experience minimal errors that could be easily eradicated.
3.4 Primary Research
3.4. 1 Surveys
A survey is an example of the primary method of data collection that has a set of standard set questions that would. The method has a well-structured question that would generate answers suitable for answering the research questions. The data generated through this method are based on the empirical studies whose aim is to gain sufficient information towards the answering of the research topic. According to LUO, 2012, a survey can be administering on the target population physically or through an online platform such as the internet. The method is best considering that it leads to the gathering more than enough data that could be used to answer the questions in the research exhaustively. This is the best method that would be used to gather information regarding the technological impact on MICE events.
3.4.2 Survey sample
The survey sample of the research include the firms in the MICE events industry that have successfully implemented the technology in their operations. This sample was carefully selected to avoid difficulties that might be experienced throughout the period of data collection. The sample also included individuals that have had experience with the MICE events that have to use the technology. The data collectors had to attend these events to collect the information by administering the surveys. The professional groups were sought after for permission to use the sample group. Before conducting the actual survey, the data collectors conducted a pilot test to find out how it could have implemented and how the results could be used to provide answers to the research topic. Also, the test tested the suitability of the questions to the research topic.
3.4.3 Interviews
The interview in another crucial method used for the data collection especially when one is looking for qualitative. The study conducted interviews on the various stakeholders of the MICE events industry. This was among the most appropriate methods since it allowed the researcher to obtained first-hand information. The research preferred online interview for the event planners and face-to-face interviews for the case of the participants. The interview is very important because the interview collects specific data that could be used to answer the research. Therefore, the data will not require much refining to get the required information. The interview had to attend one of the events to meet the participants and interview them by asking some specific questions aimed at answering particular research question; there the researcher had to find permission first to conduct the research.
4.0 Analysis
The analysis was performed on each research question where the answers were used to answer the overall question posed by the study which the main topic of the research. The analysis of the data was done in order to answer the three question of the research. It was found the participants are the individuals who interact with the system than the planners. The planer only monitors how the event is going on through the use of technology.
It was discovered that most of the MICE events prefer the use of the technology to conduct the event where the participants could not manage to converge. The survey question presented enabled the users to obtained information. The survey question was particularly target for the analysis because it contained a question that could help to come up with the overall findings of the research. Apart from the details of the respondent, the questioner had other five questions. Also, these questions were also asked in the interview.
4.1 Question 1
The first question that the researcher wanted to find out was the extent to which the MICE events have implemented the use of social media. It was found out that most of the firms have implemented social media use. 95 % of the participants recorded the MICE events use social media for communication and notification purposes. Also, it was found that the number of Facebook users to top the use of other social media platforms.
4.2 Question 2
The second question involved the use of an online platform for the users to get the tickets for the events. From the data collected, we found out the majority of the events have added an online functionality that allows the participants to book and pay for the events. We also found that out of the companies half of these companies in have working system while others do not function.
4.3 Question 3
The third question was aimed at determining how effective is the use of technology on the overall performances of the events. The participants were satisfied with the overall use of technology in conducting events. However, a few numbers of the participant were not satisfied, and the cited the irrelevance of the technology some of the event. 75 % of the participants were satisfied while 25 % were. close observation found that 25 % included individuals who had not used the technology for a long time.

5.0 Implication of the practice
The finding of the study implies that most of the MICE events are concentrating on the implementation of the technology to bots their operations. It is evident that the industry has realized the importance of the technology are devise al the possible way through which they can implement it. Also, some of the firms are looking for possible ways through they can solve the problems that are existing when the firms are trying to implement the technology. The discovery of the flows existing in the system is important for the events firms because they can find the solution to the problem and find the most suitable ways to address the problem LUO, 2012. Also, the discoveries could help access the technology and determine out the most suitable one which would that help in avoiding the challenges associated with the implementation.
6.0 Conclusion
The MICE events have existed for a long time, but they have lagged behind in the implementation of the technology to boost their operations. The main reason that leads to the delay is because of them were organization based. With the growth of the MICE events in the industry firms involving in the business decided to find ways through which the technology could be used to enhance the delivering of their services. The research was done to find out how technology has impacted the way through which mice events are conducted.it first conducted a literature review to gain knowledge and insight of the MICE events, the challenges that they are facing as they try to implement the technology, and lastly the technologies that have revolutionized the mice events. Secondly, the methodologies of the research looked into and their appropriateness assessed and used for analysis.
