Good evening class,

This week I have become more familiar with the EHR, Electronic Health Record. An EHR allows hospitals, doctors, and nurses to provide better and quicker care to their patients. An EHR is a secure location to access the patients information, communicate with medical professionals, and even checking test results. This makes it much easier for the patient to feel more in control of their health when they can have access to this information. As a health care manager we will need to understand how the flow of information transmits and is received. Multiple doctors and nurses will be able to view the patient information, the information is safe because of hipaa regulations. Patients will be able to view there information and change their personal information as they would like. This makes more time available to be helped by the doctor instead of filling out paperwork. With the EHR, the doctor can see what tests have already been ordered and what has not so that double testing does not occur. This saves time and money for both the hospitals and the patients.
