Student focuses on rhetorical aspects of the text such as audience, purpose, tone, assumptions, biases, diction, etc. and avoids summarizing the text or assessing the author’s work.

Student supports interpretations and analysis of the reading with textual and contextual references.

Student’s analysis of the text is clear, accurate, and insightful.

Student’s writing demonstrates clear cohesion and coherence of ideas.
