Assignment 1

-Composition of a 2–3-page rhetorical analysis on a commercial of your choosing.  When you decide on a commercial, think about any rhetoric that is being presented in terms of visuals, text (such as pricing/leasing and fine print), and implied meaning (for example, the reason for the use of a specific plot, setting or dialogue). You may want to analyze how sounds, specifically background music, helps meet a rhetorical goal.

-Jot down any notes or ideas that come to mind. Consider what rhetorical modes are being used throughout the commercial.

· What elements speak to logos?

· What elements speak to ethos?

· What elements speak to pathos?

How does a commercial, regardless of the product or service being advertised, speak to visual rhetoric, and what do you think the commercial you choose achieves and how?
