ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION_REWRITE THE SPEECH

Introduction: For this assignment, you will rewrite a script following the speech pattern discussed in class (provided below), and submit the rewritten script in the designated Dropbox. I have posted original videos of Nobel Peace Prize Lectures of six Nobel Laureates. Please choose one video and listen to the lecture. Then rewrite the speech in your own words, in the speech pattern provided below. Please do not transcribe the speech verbatim. Identify the General purpose, Specific purpose, Introduction, Three main points, and Conclusion from the speech and use your own words and expressions to write. You can quote a couple of sentences/statements from the speech, but the major portion of the speech should be written in your own words. Please cite whenever you have directly quoted from the speech and use “…” to indicate quotations.

In addition to rewriting the speech using the speech pattern, you will also comment on how some of the issues speakers mention in their speeches also exist in current US society and how you, as younger members of the society, would like to mitigate/resolve that through your work in future. Do not merely say, ‘we need to unite’, but provide tangible and concrete ways of mitigation that can be translated into action.
