Poetry Essay

Students,

Many times in this course, you may need to revise your work. I may ask you to do this for one of the following reasons:

1) The electronic scan is showing that your work has a matchability level that is too high. You can see this in the percentage box in the right column on your page. This is an easy solution to correct. You simply must go back and place direct quotation marks around the words that you used that are not your own. Then place the citation. Example: “Fracking provides both positive and negative elements to the community (EPA 2019) or (EPA 4). That shows the source and the date retrieved or the page #. If you can’t find an author’s name or a reputable organization, place the title of the article in quotation marks (“Is Fracking Dangerous” 2019). Never place an https in the in-text citation place. Example (https//frackingisdangerous).

2) You have written an essay/paper that does not address the writing prompt. Each module has a different writing request and prompt. That must be followed very diligently. For example, if you are reading a text such as Things Fall Apart or Crime and Punishment, I am not merely asking for you to provide plotline. I know the plot line. I am requesting that you adhere to the specific writing prompt. For example: In Things Fall Apart, the writing prompt asks you to review the impact of outside forces on the protagonist. It is not asking you to state the plot line in detail. In Crime and Punishment, you are requested to look at the issue of a guilty conscience and unconfessed sin. It is not asking you to overstate the crime. Note: titles of books and plays are placed in italics. Never in quotation marks.

3) You have missed a section of the essay requirement, and I am giving you the opportunity to revise for more points.

NOTE: It is your choice to revise your work. It is not mandatory. If you choose to revise your work, it must be done BEFORE you move to the next module. Also, please mark it as a REVISION. This is very important.
