Word Count
[ ] Does the paper meet the required word count? (2100-2400 words)
Title
[ ] Does the paper have a title?
[ ] Does it make the paper’s topic clear?
[ ] Is the title interesting?
[ ] Is the title centered?
Header
[ ] Does the paper have a header?
[ ] Is the author’s last name in the header?
[ ] Are there page numbers after the author’s last name?
[ ] Are the page numbers in consecutive order on every page?
[ ] Is the header right-justified?
Spacing
[ ] Is the paper double-spaced?
[ ] Has the author removed any unnecessary gaps in the paper?
Margins
[ ] Does the paper have 1-inch margins?
Font
[ ] Is the paper’s font Times New Roman?
[ ] Is the paper’s font 12-point?
In-Text Citations
[ ] Does the paper cite 5 different academic sources?
[ ] Are quotations and paraphrases properly cited?
[ ] If the citation uses parentheses, does the period come after parentheses?
Block Quotes
[ ] Are quotations longer than four lines put into block quotes? Example below.
Dr. So-and-so states:
A block quote will be introduced with a colon like the colon above after the word states.
A block quote does not have quotation marks around it. Also, a block quote is indented
using a hanging indent, just like the sources in your Works Cited page. Furthermore,
if your block quote needs a parenthetical citation at the end, then the period will go after
the sentence and before the parentheses, like so. (96)
Finally, after your block quote, you should no longer indent. Return to the left margin to begin your
interpretation of the quote.
Indentation

Contractions
[ ] Have you written contractions out using two words? (didn’t → did not)
Works Cited
[ ] Does the Works Cited page begin on a new page after the paper?
[ ] Does the Works Cited page have the title –Works Cited – centered?
[ ] Are the sources listed alphabetically?
[ ] Are the sources indented properly using hanging indents?
