Preliminary Research Report on Gender Pay Gap
The gender gap have always existed in society, men and women are not equal at work. This is a serious problem with the gender wage gap, especially in modern day. The male’s gender roles usually have more advantages than women. The gender wage gap has been a problem from the past to the present. Women need to raise children, take care of elderly family members, or do housework, so that they have less working time for paid work during the day. In addition, research on public administration is more focused on understanding the differences in race and gender opportunities in the workplace. Much of the research done on gender-based pay gap has focused on the causes, and largely ignored the steps that can be taken so as to lower or completely eliminate the existing wage gap between men and women. In continuing the research on the gender pay gap, there are indeed numerous questions that have not been effectively answered through research.
The role the government can play in reducing the gender wage gap. The government has enacted laws such as the Pay Equity Act, which aims to protect wage transparency during payroll advertising The government enacts laws to ensure equal wages so that applicants can understand their wage expectations. Through these laws, the government will limit the employer's ability to pay based on previous wages, which greatly contributes to the difference in women's wages. Therefore, the government may have to hold the employer responsible for any breach of legal obligations. (Blau)
Many studies have shown that men have the ability to take leadership positions, and this social stereotype can affect the gender wage gap. Women need to adopt a variety of educational and informational approaches to change the existing concept of women in society. Education is an important tool to raise public awareness of gender stereotypes and to ensure that women have the right to be represented in the workforce.
The gender wage gap indicates inequalities in the workplace. Although some progress has been made in narrowing the gender wage gap, it is still insufficient. If appropriate measures are not taken to eliminate discrimination, the gender wage gap is still a concern for the society. Employers need to change existing mentality and stereotypes about women. Employers need to take steps to ensure women’s equality in the workplace.
In continuing the research on the reduction of gender pay gap, there are indeed numerous questions that have not been effectively answered through research. These include:
1. What law can the government establish so as to address the issue of gender pay gap?
2. Can change of social stereotypes help in solving the problem of gender pay gap?
3. What are the appropriate steps that can be taken by employers to ensure that the gender wage gap is reduced or completely eliminated?
My research question is the last question: “What are the appropriate steps that can be taken by employers to ensure that the gender wage gap is reduced or completely eliminated?”
I believe the answer to this question is that employers have a responsibility to prepare good policies to change this difference. Companies can implement a variety of measures to ensure that any injustices related to the gender wage gap are eliminated. Employers should determine the scope of equal pay for equal work and the position where women and men perform the same task. If there is a pay gap, the company needs to determine the cause. Develop an equal plan and then carry out routine business.
There are several areas where I need more information. First I need to study how to reduce or possibly eliminate the social problem of the gender wage gap. I believe these studies will provide women with an effective way to help them reduce or eliminate the gender wage gap. I will also look at what can be done to ensure that any injustices related to the gender wage gap are eliminated.
