Dieting & Exercise Page 13
Proper dieting helps people to grow in good shape and minimize the chances of getting infected with the various diseases. Proper dieting as well makes people look more attractive, healthy, and even younger. Unfortunately, very few people observe what they eat, at a given time and in the right quantities. Additionally, apart from eating good food, for one to stay healthier, they require physical exercise. Physical exercise is any bodily activity that an individual engages into ensure physical fitness and overall body well-being. Different people participate in various physical activities for diverse reasons such as strengthening muscles, cardiovascular system health purposes, to prevent aging, and to lose weight. When the exercise activities are taken seriously, it is likely that the individuals achieve their goals and objectives (In Dukes, 2014). However, it is important that someone train under the guidance of either by an instructor or a tutorial video since some of the exercise activities may be dangerous. Regular bodily activities help in improving the wellness as well as the overall body health through working positively on the immune system of the individuals. However, the level of involvement is important because one needs to set aside a few minutes of their time for regular exercise which could minimize chances of being depressed as well as improve their well-being.
People’s lifestyles have changed due to the various changes taking place in almost every aspect of their lives following the advances in technology, increased parental responsibilities, and the harsh economic periods. The technology advancements have pushed people in adopting new ways of doing things. For instances, learning from home is now common as well as working from home amongst the developed countries. However, the advancements in the technology require extra income to acquire individual devices as well as maintaining them (Utter, 2013). Therefore, many working-class individuals find themselves under pressure to seek more income to keep up with the evolving lifestyles. They, therefore, tend to work longer hours to earn the extra required amount of cash to sustain their way of life.
Due to the long hours of work most, individuals prefer passing by the fast-food eatery joints for quick and already prepared meals since by the time they reach their homes they are too tired to make some. Besides, the long working hours deny the workers time for physical exercise. Due to the kind of lifestyle most people have adopted, such as indoor activities, poor dietary measures, and inadequate training has led to an increase in health-related problems such as heart complications, obesity, diabetes amongst others (Utter, 2013). However, the occurrence of these diseases can be kept at bay through productive and regular physical exercise activities.
The purpose of this convergent mixed methods study will be to examine the theory of proper diet and exercise in today’s generation as it relates to living a longer life. This mixed methods study will address the extent to which poor dieting and lack of physical exercise affect the working class persons. A convergent mixed methods design will be used, and it is a type of design in which qualitative and quantitative data are collected in parallel, analyzed separately, and then merged.
In this study, questionnaires will be used to test the theory of the health belief model, the theory of planned behaviors and social cognitive theory that predicts that eating habits and dieting will positively or negatively influence the healthiness of the working class in the US institutions. The online surveys and existing literature will explore dieting and physical activities for the working class persons in the USA institutions. The reason for collecting both quantitative and qualitative data is to ensure results are reliable and valid.
Problem Statement
Dieting is a major matter for almost every individual. Some people are too concerned about what they eat, while some do not pay attention to the composition of their diets. Being too concerned about what one eats may be of help, yet when one is too keen not to be overweight and misses on very vital food compositions, it becomes a problem.
Therefore, knowing what to eat at what time and what quantities is what matters. Ideally, most people lack such significant information hence tend to starve themselves to death or take too much of it that ends up reducing their lifespan. Additionally, others are fully aware of what to eat at what time and in what quantities but unfortunately, they cannot afford such meals which equally puts their health at risk.
Similarly, poor physical exercising has contributed to the poor health of people. Indeed, about 37% of the human population is said to have poor physical exercise habits (Farrell, 2010). Statistically, such a recording implies that most people are too busy with their lives and do not have time to participate in physical activity. Sedentary lifestyle and particularly, poor physical activity has been largely fueled by the advancement in technology which has simplified almost every task (NCBI, 2013). For instance, the use of cars has largely reduced the chances of people undertaking of morning walks. The use of computers and other technology-based devices such as automated machines has also caused people to become lax. Watching television still adds up to inactive life among the youths and children.
Additionally, people have adopted certain lifestyles which have pushed them to work extra hard to sustain it. Therefore, due to full-time working sessions, people are having little or no time for physical exercise. Additionally, they hardly have enough time to prepare healthy meals at home due to the long working hours, and instead, they prefer grabbing fast foods from the nearest fast-food joint. When such activities are repeated for a longer period, people start developing diseases like heart diseases, diabetes, and osteoporosis health conditions.
Nature of Study
A mixed methods design study was conducted involving identification of the proper diet and exercise in today's generation as it relates to living a long life because this is the issue which is affecting those who are working whereby they do not do the exercise. The agents which are used are those people who are employed to identify their feeding habits and also to know whether they o exercise or they do not have the time for exercise. Participants will engage in answering the questions which are asked either during the interviews or which are found in the questionnaires which are meant to help in identifying the diets of the working class citizens and lack of exercise then identifying their health conditions. Further, the study ensures the saturation and reliability of the data by compiling the information which has been collected then analyzed to the get the real picture of what is happening amongst the working class.
The research validity will be ensured through the integration of qualitative and qualitative methods since there is a mixed methodology that will permit collection and interpretation in diverse ways as mentioned above, questionnaires, online interviews as well as the reading of existing information sources. Furthermore, reliability shall be acquired using sending the findings before publication to the interviewees as well as those who filled the questionnaire to ensure accuracy is realized. In case of any errors, correction shall be done before the final document is published. As for saturation of data, the usage of the saturation grid will be important when drawing the interview questions and questionnaires so that all basic information is covered. Some the sources of such information will be well evaluated before any conclusion is made concerning these issue of well-built.
Significance of Study
Those individuals who are taking balanced and do exercise regularly are healthy, and thus they do not develop health problems unlike those who are not taking balanced diet, and they do not do regular exercise whicho develops health problems frequently.
Research Questions
· Are the members of the societyWhat would could taking the recommended when selecting a diet which is always taking balanced diet?
· How are consumers able to Are these members of the society doing exercise regularly?
· For those who are taking balanced diet and doing exercise, how often do they develop health problems? And for those who are not doing exercise and are not taking balanced diet, how often do they develop health problems?
Qualitative Questions
· For those who are doing regular exercise, what motivated them to do regular exercise?
· There are moments when one will not be in a position to do exercise, how do they cope with such moments?
· Since those who are doing regular exercise are leading a healthy, have they fallen ill?
· Are they encouraging their family members to do the same or they do exercise alone in the family?
Quantitative Research
· In a population of an area, what percentage of the members is doing regular exercise?
· How often those who are doing exercise do fall sick as compared to those who are doing exercise?
Thesis
Those individuals who are taking balanced and do exercise regularly are healthy and thus they do not develop health problems unlike those who are not taking balanced diet and they do not do regular exercise who develops health problems frequently.
Hypothesis Comment by Basta .: Think about which statistical test may help you either reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis. You must use the guidance and scripts provided by Creswell! The following example demonstrates proper formatting: Hypotheses The following hypotheses were tested: Ha1: A relationship exists between the number of English and composition classes taken by the participant and publication rates. H01: No relationship exists between the number of English and composition classes taken by the participant and publication rates. Ha2: A relationship between a linear combination of independent variables and publication rates exist. H02: No relationship between a linear combination of independent variables and publication rates exist.
The following hypotheses were tested:
Ha1: Individuals who exercise regularly fall sick rarely.
Ho1: Individuals who exercise regularly often fall sick
Analysis plan
According to the research, sampling was taken where 1000 members of the society were interviewed on how regular they took exercise and how often they fall sick
Sample of data
Data were collected from various regions, and it came out clear that most percentage of the population who took balanced diet and did exercise, rarely fell sick. On the other side individuals who often fall ill were found not to exercise on a regular basis.
Interpretation of results
The null hypothesis is rejected in this study, simply because, research was conducted through the sampling of a certain percentage of the population and the results were collected and analyzed. Most of the people who exercised regularly were found to be healthy and rarely fell sick whereas individuals who did not exercise daily, most of them fell sick therefore a relationship exists between exercising and healthiness in that individuals who involve in regular exercise were found to be healthy as their body is fit.
In order to lead a healthy life, it is advisable for the members of the society to eat balanced diet and to do exercise. So members of the society are supposed to eat balanced diet and have time to do exercise regularly and thus they will be in a position to lead a healthy life.
Null hypothesis is rejected in this study because a research was conducted through sampling of a certain percentage of the population and the results were clear. Most of the people who exercised regularly were found to be healthy and rarely failed sick whereas individuals who did not exercise regularly, most of them fall sick.
According to the research, it iscame out clear that a relationship exists between exercising and healthiness in that individuals who involve in regular exercise were found to be healthy as their body is fit.
It is also clearr that a relationship exists between sickness and lack of exercise. The two variables are directly proportional to each other according to the research and therefore lack of exercise leads one, one step up the ladder of sickness. A good number of individuals who fall sick were not exercising.
In conclusion, a null hypothesis does not exist and it is rejected because the outcome
was clear that exercising and healthiness are directly proportional to each outcome.
