Introduction

Remember, we are “scaffolding” or “building one paper upon the next.” This means that you are going to cut and paste the “Introduction” section from Assignment 2. This section is where you will tell us the “story” of how you went about selecting your approved research topic.

Purpose of Research

This is a NEW section. Here is where you will provide YOUR explanation of your OWN purpose of the research YOU are conducting. If in doubt, look at the peer-reviewed articles you have been reading and see how the authors explained their own purpose of the research to help you articulate your own explanation. But make sure to include citations for the sources to avoid plagiarizing.

Problem Statement

This is a NEW section. Here is where you will explain in detail what YOU see as the problem or the “issue” as it relates to your own research topic and why is it important for others to learn from what you are researching but more importantly how you research will prompt others to research more on this topic. If you use sources from the articles, make sure to include the citations to support your statements.

Literature Review

Remember, we are “scaffolding” or “building one paper upon the next.” This means that you are going to cut and paste the “Literature Review” section from Assignment 2. This is the largest section for this paper. By way of information, if you mention in the summary numbers, dates, percentages, dollar amounts, figures or data, then also provide the citation where the information came from. You need to organize each of the article summaries as follows:

Article 1: “Title of the peer-reviewed article” (Author, Year). Summarize 1) How did the author describe his purpose of the research? 2) What is the research question the author is hoping to have answered with his research efforts? 3) What did the author say was the problem statement? 4) Did he mention any gaps in the literature that require further study? If yes, what were the gaps? 5) What theory or conceptual framework is he using? 6) What is the research method the author used (Quantitative or Qualitative)? 7) What were the findings and conclusions the author stated at the end of the paper?

Article 2: “Title of the peer-reviewed article” (Author, Year).

Article 3: “Title of the peer-reviewed article” (Author, Year).

Article 4: “Title of the peer-reviewed article” (Author, Year).

Article 5: “Title of the peer-reviewed article” (Author, Year).

Article 6: “Title of the peer-reviewed article” (Author, Year).

Article 7: “Title of the peer-reviewed article” (Author, Year).

Research Question

This is a NEW section. You need to write a nicely detail paragraph that explains your hypothesis to support your research question. Do NOT simply type the research question. You need to elaborate, expand, and explain in detail to share with your readers why this research question is important not only to you but to other future researchers as it relates to your approved topic. Also, include sources to support your statements.

Gaps in the Literature

Remember, we are “scaffolding” or “building one paper upon the next.” This means that you are going to cut and paste the “Gaps in the Literature” section from Assignment 2. Since you already summarized the articles, this section should be easily prepared. Make sure this paragraph has the necessary sources citing where you found the information from each of the pee-reviewed articles. This section needs to be detailed and informative.

Proposed Theory or Conceptual Framework

This is a NEW section. Here you will need to identify a Theory and describe it in detail how it will be applicable to your own research topic. Use sources to cite the author’s work where you found this theory. If you look at your peer-reviewed articles you will see which theory the author(s) used. A theory is used to “anchor” your research question. Meaning, it is what is going to guide your research efforts. Some theories are Grounded Theory, Critical Race Theory, Transformational Theory, Cultural Capital Theory to name a few. (Look at the list of Theories I provided to give you an idea). You need citations from the source to support your statements.
