The publication was successful in that it was got huge sales internationally and ranked at the top

chart in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. This is attributed to the style used in composing the

whole album as well as the composition of the whole album as a way of communicating a key problem

among many people. The album related to the modern times and easily relates to the problems faced by

the present generations particularly the Millennials. The album was recorded on 2017-2018 by the main

producer being Jermaine Cole in assistance of Ibrahim Hamad and Mark Pelli. It was released on April

20, 2018 under the labels: Dreamville. Roc Nation. Interscope

The album KOD by J. Cole is relevant to those people depressed over certain issues and opting

to use drugs and other distractors as it offers an alternative way to solve the problems without having to

compromise their bodies or values in the process of channeling out their problems. J. Cole outlines his

understanding of the three titles as a way of dealing with stress where the process involves identifying

the main reason as to why one is indulging into bad practices such as drugs, alcoholism and women and

being honest with themselves. In relation to this, there are a variety of causes that might be resulting to

the depressions and anxiety such as family such as family conflicts. In explaining. After identifying the

main reason, he outlines the next step is Killing the Demon which according to him means facing it and

solving it. As a way of solving this, he proposes meditation as a strategic way of solving the problems

(Williams, 11).

Psychology reports and studies explain reasons as to why people are engaged in drug use and

other influences linking it to various factors. These factors result into depression and anxiety in a person

and they include low-self-esteem, post-traumatic stress disorder, failure and financial loss among

others. In the case of self-esteem issue, the person opts to use pills and other substances that can help

them assume things and boost their confidence on themselves. Post-traumatic stress disorder is also

another factor that results into abuse of drugs and pills as the user tries to either forget or distracts

memories on some past unfortunate experiences which might be as a result of tragic accidents or losses.

In trying to ease their life, they prefer to engage in activities that make them live in denial. Also, factors

such as huge financial losses and bankruptcy can contribute to such behaviors where the victim use pills

and other substances to assume the problems.

However, application of drugs as a way to solve depressions and anxiety do not provide the right

solution, instead the problems becomes aggressive after recovering from the influence and the user is

forced to use the substances at all times to keep them from realities. This drives the need to face the

problem so as to solve it in a way that it does not recur at a later time where the person needs to be

honest with themselves and realize the need to get out of their depressing thoughts by themselves or

seek help. Common methods used to assist the victim include but not limited to cognitive behavior

therapy which involve the victim being assisted to find new ways by changing their thought patterns.

Also, interpersonal therapy is used which focuses on the victim and their relationships. Lastly, there is

psychodynamic therapy which involves a professional tracing the emotional patterns, thoughts and the

belief system of the victim to understand the current self and assist them recover (Gillies, 10).
