Resume conventions – formatting and content

Education:

· if you attended high school outside of the US, it is clearly noted on your resume. But high school is not required

· No h. s. if US based

To show University:

· B.A. or B.S. in (major) (concentration)

· San Francisco State University

· Expected or Projected Graduation date (2019)

Skills:

· Computer skills – software is always capitalized

· Software grouped by type

· Proficient in Microsoft Office; Photoshop; HTML coding;

· Presentation skills; Keynote; Prezi

Proficiency in language:

· Fluent

· Read and Write

· Knowledge

· Example: Fluent in English and Cantonese; knowledge of Korean

Other issues:

· No “I” in resumes!

· Start out with action verb

· do not repeat common phrases like "able to" and "worked at."
