Response-09-two and three
Discussion 09-Response two
Chapter 14 covers Correlation and Regression. Scatterplots can be useful in finding correlations and regression lines. While the problems in this chapter get complicated, I believe it is important to have a good foundational understanding of these concepts. Here are a few review questions that helped me to understand this concept better.
1. Why are scatterplots necessary when investigating the relationship between quantitative variables?
2. What four elements do we look for when investigating a scatter plot?
3. Perfect negative association is present where r= 1, 0, or –1?
Gertsman, 2015, states that in the process of regression it can be a challenge to find the line that is the best fit. Is best-fit the regression line that predicts the value of the dependent variable for independent variable more close to the actual value? I think I understand coefficients a bit better. They are used to find the regression line, and the values can be used to find the equation for the line. That is my understanding of the chapter, at this point.
