RESPONSE TO THE MYTH OF THE ETHICAL SHOPPER

Michael Hobbes is mistaken because he overlooks the fact that Nike as a company has been in the industry for a while. As a result, the company cannot be compared to the ones that are starting out. A big company like Nike might find it difficult to carry out audits on the bases of supervision since it would take some days to make up with a comprehensive report. The use of paperwork makes it more accessible. However, it might be challenging if the workers choose to withhold some information while carrying out the paperwork.

I agree that getting rid of the sweatshops across the globe is not easy, but it is also not impossible, a point they need emphasizing since so many people believe that the sweatshops are of good quality but also come at an affordable price. However, a lot of people do not know that cheap ends up being expensive in most cases if not all. For instance, if a product goes for a more reasonable price as compared to the price of a well-known company, most people will go for the item where it sales at a lower price. But, in the long run, the quality of the product cannot be compared to the ones sold by collaborates firms. At the end of the day quality is what one should focus on when buying anything.

Michael is right that companies produce a lot of items when they realize that a particular product is on trend, but he seems to be on the more dubious ground when he claims that companies compete to produce the items that are on trend during a particular season. By so doing, they suffer losses when people lose interest in a product which results to a decline in the economy of a country.
