Ms Sund’s theory of classroom management is good. She wants the best for her students’ where they will learn in a safe, supportive, and calm environment. Ms Sund, however, speaks about being upfront with her students about her dislikes, but they are third grade students. Will they remember? In my opinion Ms Sund should put all those dislikes as a set of rules on a chart and place them on the walls of the classroom, then teach the students to obey those rules. The students will see the rules every day, read them on their own and remember to follow them. The teacher can also use it to go over the rules with them.
I do not agree with Ms Sunds plans of creating rules after discussing with students their likes and dislikes on the first day of school. Rules should have been prepared and ready before the first day of school. It is good to talk to third grade students about how they want to be treated, when going over the rules but not before rules are created. Ms Sund should follow the advice of the Wongs and have her class rules ready before the children arrive at school. Ms Sund should also follow the advice of Morrish and do not seek students’ help in deciding on the rules for her classroom. Yes, of course, Ms Sund should have consequences for whenever some rules are broken, however, I do not believe that she should be discussing and seeking students input about punishments. She should rather plan to have students redo an action when a rule is broken. I would not redirect students’ behavior in some of the ways that Ms Sund describes. I would prefer, for example, to go and stand near to a student who is loud rather than say anything at all.

I like the philosophy of both teachers’ classroom management plans. Deborah Sund’s wants to implement an approach that will form structure for students and meet their concerns. She values the needs to provide safe support and a relaxed environment to help students learn their best and meet the need of everyone. Sund thoughts are teachers should be helpful and focus on the teaching of literature, math, and language; incorporate learning that capture students for a productive week. She values the need of mutual respect and to teach without being disruptive. I agree with Sund’s dislikes about being in-attentive, having excess noise, and abusing instructional materials are unnecessary and unkind. A student being in-attentive is one thing I find to be very rude and disrespectful. Being attentive and mentally presence is imperative. I believe education and knowledge is a learning that anyone should waste or not take seriously. We all have minds that we should utilize effectively.
Gail Charles believes that students benefit from respect and civilization while presenting body language, proper tone of voice, and courteous. Charles designed his rules to limit and prevent behavior by adding support and reinforcement. He looks at developing interdisciplinary, interpersonal, and self restraint for student productive growth. Charles includes a lot more of the ethical and professionalism in his education philosophy. He really digs in and pulls out most of the knowledge from each chapter that has been given in the textbook Building Classroom Management. Compared to Sund, Charles is more detailed with his proposal for classroom management. Suad and Charles both have the same with support and effort. The way I support my student’s efforts to participate and persevere matches way Charles support her students. I use both of the instructor’s approaches in managing my classroom. I see that Charles really goes over and beyond to excel and is willing to review, rehearse, and re-teach.

I chose to read and analyze Ms. Sund’s third grade discipline plan. Ms. Sund’s plan is very similar to my discipline plan and she felt that it should also meet the needs of her students. Its important that the plan is helpful and beneficial to all students. One thing that stood out to me the most was when sund’s state that it is important to learn interesting and useful information. I feel that if the students are interested in what is being taught, it would keep them focus and the lesson would become beneficial to them. My theory of classroom management is being in control of your class. Its important that the students know your rules and expectation for class. I feel that if the students know your expectation and interested in the lesson their behavior problems would be minimize. What I would do proactively to limit misbehavior and support proper behavior in my class is to come up with a PBIS awards system. I would award good behavior. All students like to be praised and recognize when doing what right. I would also make sure my lessons are rigorous enough to keep the students interested and focus for the entire class time. Most students tend to misbehave when they are not interested in the lesson or when the assignment is too easy. I want to make sure all students are involved and reward the good students. In my behavior plan I will discuss how I will use the 3-strike rule and documentation to help keep the students on track. As a teacher I would inform all the other teachers about my PBIS plan and hopefully they participate, and we could make this a school-wide program.

Ms Deborah Sund’s 3rd grade classroom plan:
Ms Sund has a good set of classroom rules and guidelines to follow for herself and the students. They seem, not only practical and logical, but easy to follow and self-explanatory. She set out needs of her students such as students needing a teacher who is attentive and helpful. She also stated that students need to feel accepted and feel a part of the group. She outlined her own needs as a teacher. Ms Sund needed to have orderly classroom appearance and enthusiasm. Within these guidelines, she stated her dislikes. She disliked students not paying attention when others were speaking or presenting to the classroom. She also disliked when the students abuse property.
I agree with these guidelines that Ms Sund outlined. I think that they were all fair and reasonable. I do, however, believe that not every rule will be followed by the students. Paying attention to those who may be presenting or speaking to the classroom is a rule that not all students will follow. As teachers it is our responsibility to outline what is expected and needed of all students while also knowing that students have expectations and needs from us as teachers. If there are guidelines that they should follow as students, then we as teachers must step up and follow our own guidelines. Students must be held to the consequences that goes along with not doing what is asked and needed of them. Doing so, leaves little room for error and any misunderstandings that may take place.

After reading Ms Sund's third grade discipline plan I can say a few things caught my eye. The very first thing I liked from Ms. Sund's discipline plan is the "My Particular Dislikes," section . I really liked this section because I believe as teacher we can be come very complacent with this section. Sometimes we start to tolerate these things in our classroom and forget how much it actually takes away from learning. I have seen many teachers forget to re-address or not address issues like teasing, poking, misusing , and inappropriate talking and they eventually have a hard time disciplining students because they have being putting up with it for so long. Too many teachers want to be their students friends from the start of school on day one, this part of the behavior plan is truly essential because it notify's the children what you do not like from the start. That's why I like when she says, "I want to be upfront with my students about my particular dislikes,"
I agree with Ms. Sund's when she states. "I will make sure to maintain proper lighting, temperature, traffic patterns, and room attractiveness so students won't feel strained, tired or inconvenienced. I like this part of the behavior plan because sometimes it is not always about us as teachers. We must meet the needs of the students and the learning environment. As a educator I will definitely design my classroom in a way that will help keep my students engaged and interactive. A classroom that makes lessons and activities come alive is a successful one.
Lastly I also agree with, "including an active curriculum that includes interesting activities." I truly believe that students get tired of sitting in desk all day. We need to use lesson plans that help are students make connections and apply real world connections. I want my classroom activities to be educational but fun at the same time. I want my students to say, " one thing I can take from this activity is or one thing I really enjoyed is." By doing this I can receive feed back as well of what worked or what can I do better.
I do feel Ms. Sund should have but routines or procedures in her theory of classroom management. I feel that is just as important as rules. Students need to have some type of routine. Routines also help prevent misbehavior because when students do not have a routine or certain way of doing things that is when conflict sets in. If you know what you are suppose to be doing you are less likely to get in trouble.
In conclusion I can agree that Ms Sund's classroom management plan is in the best interest of the students for the most part and their is a lot I can agree with her on.
