For the first 90 days of the school year, it's critical to establish a clear vision. The school's principal needs to be able to explain his goals to the staff, pupils, and community members. A supportive school culture can be developed via collaboration and open communication with all stakeholders. High standards for academic performance and assistance for struggling students can also help enhance student results. In the 1st Ninety days there will be a series of meetings with Assistant administration and school department heads to assess the needs of the faculty as well as the students (2015). Discussions and expectations will be delivered through policy and procedure manuals. Every staff member will be clear a duties and roles to ensure the progression and safety of all students and staff members.

This also creates a peaceful work environment. Additionally, establishing positive relationships with your coworkers might aid to open new vistas and improve task comprehension. Networking requires relationships. New chances for development—personal and professional—are made available by this. As a principal, I would communicate with my teachers daily to make sure they had everything they needed to succeed.

Theory Y is a management theory that contends that individuals are inherently driven to work and seek out responsibility and challenge in their employment. Theory Y-aligned managers frequently foster more participative and collaborative work settings. They encourage employees to take ownership of their work and to contribute their ideas and insights to the organization. Douglas McGregor’s idea of Theory Y ultimately was developed to help improve motivation within the workplace. It was stated that although the ideology behind Theory Y may be outdate, the idea can still be applied to work environments today (2021).
How would you practice a Theory Y attitude? To practice Theory Y, one should start by assuming that your employees are capable, motivated, and want to do their best work. This means giving them autonomy and encouraging them to take ownership of their work rather than micromanaging the workers. Additionally, employees should have opportunities for growth and responsibilities. By creating a Theory Y attitude, managers can create a more positive and productive work environment.

Leading a school is an enormous endeavor with an outsized responsibility. Therefore, a tool must be used as a guide in the first 90 days. The tool discussed is the “New Leader Onboarding Roadmap”(Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, 2021, p. 79). The tool is divided into sections: the first day, two weeks, two months, and the third month. On the first day on the job, I would meet with the entire faculty to introduce myself and lay out my core values, including teamwork, effort, and performance. Preparation is crucial on the first day as this is the one opportunity I have to establish myself as a capable leader. Secondly, I would have a separate meeting with the department heads in the building to discuss my expectations of them and how we will communicate in the future. At this meeting, we would review where we are as a school, where we are going, and how we will get there.
In the first two weeks, I will have to evaluate which teachers and department leaders are with me, who are neutral, and who might have different agendas. There are other characteristics among the three categories of people I need to evaluate, e.g., strengths, weaknesses, personalities, partnerships, etc. I need to understand how I will build with my supporters, develop the neutrals and get buy in from those who are not team-oriented.
During the first two months, as things settle, I will consume as much quantitative and qualitative data to guide decision making. This is an opportunity to see if my initial evaluations were accurate and make course corrections in both personnel and any adjustments that need to be made to achieve the school’s mission and vision.
In the third month, my goal is for my key supporters to see glimpses of the vision and have buy-in regarding my leadership style. This early win will become a positive contagious force throughout the faculty and staff and drive us toward a successful school year. Success breeds success.

Building a healthy relationship with superiors is critical if principals want to succeed personally. According to (Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, 2021, p. 89), “Followers with good relationships with their superiors are often in the superior’s in-group and have more say in decisions, get interesting tasks, and have the superior’s support for career advancement.” The key to doing this is listening, understanding the perspective of the superiors, and attempting to get into alignment with them.

Building relationships with peers is crucial as it promotes "influence without authority," enhancing individual and collective influence within the organization (Hughes, Ginnett & Curphy, 2021, p.92). So, first, my strategy would be to collaborate with my peers authentically without quid pro quo. I want to show peers that I am a team player and someone they can trust. Secondly, being a good listener is a viable strategy for building peer relationships. Not only will the peers feel valued, but it's essential to understand the perspectives of the people I work with.
Define Theory Y. How would you practice a Theory Y attitude?
Theory Y is a perspective where "a person assumes that others are competent, trustworthy, willing to cooperate, and proud of their work" (Hughes, Ginnett & Curphy, 2021, p. 93). In utilizing Theory Y, it's essential to diffuse adversarial situations between yourself and your peers. Relationship problems are impossible to resolve amicably when emotions are boiling over.
