The value proposition in investing in IT Leadership development:

Leadership is one of the important aspects in any organization. A good leader leads the organization from front to the success. The success of the organization depends on the performance of the leaders. But nowadays, many organizations have reduced the budget for leadership development, although leadership development is very important to the organization. For developing, training plays a vital role in an effective way. Along with all those, it is equally essential to articulate the value proposition for this initiative and experts have suggested the following elements for value can be achieved by implementing a leadership development program.

· Value: Every people and every organization perceive the value in different way. Those value can be achieved by successfully implementing the development program (Chase, 2016). Improving future and current leadership qualities are included on those development program along with improving innovation, business strategy, teamwork, decision making etc. After these values are understood, metrics can be developed to determine whether the program is successful or not.

· Delivery of the value: Human Resource and IT both are responsible for the leadership development  equally. HR should distinguish the role of IT and Business so that they can move forward to achieve the organizational goals and objectives. The top level manages acts as a coach in both department where they share their knowledge and experience. Senior manager must clarify the roles and responsibilities for successful leadership development.

· Realization of the value: There are both short-term and long-term benefits in leadership development program. If the trainings are effective, then the result can be visible through behavioral change. The initial impacts of a comprehensive leadership initiative should be visible in-house within a year and to business units and vendors within eighteen to twenty-four months (Payne, Frow, & Eggert, 2017). Metrics is used to determine the success of the leadership program so this is very important. These methods can be used to demonstrate value to IT managers, who may be skeptical, and to HR and senior management.

· Delivery of the Value: Firstly, it is important for IT to determine what to accomplish with leadership development which will make easier to design effective program to deliver it.

Qualities of good IT Leadership:

All it takes to be a leader, in name at least, is to hold the dominant position in a group, organization or location. However, this is a very simplified definition for a what a leader should be, let alone what a great leader is. Because the measure of a great leader has much less to do with how we define their role and more about their actual impact on others.

The qualities of a good leader are divided into two categories:

· Personal mastery: This includes collection of behavior that determine how any person or individual approach to work and personal situations. Ii is everyone wish to achieve but everyone cannot achieve it. This is a journey of continuous improvement  from different respective. Personal mastery is guided by principles such as purpose, vision, belief, commitment and knowing oneself (Lanaj, Foulk, & Erez, 2019). Basically, this is about knowing exactly how we think, why we do things the way we do, having clarity around your purpose and direction in life in an appropriate way and taking steps towards continual learning and development to evolve and enhance oneself in a responsible manner. It cannot be achieved quickly. It takes a long time. It is something that each one of us strive towards in our journey of life, fostering a more satisfying, successful, happier and fulfilling life.

· Leadership Skill mastery: These are the leadership skills possessed by the leaders. These skills help the company and organization to succeed in the organization. Communication, motivation problem solving skills are some of the examples of skill which falls under skill mastery. For a successful IT leader, the following leadership skill should be possessed by the leaders, Business understanding, Organization Understanding, supportive environment creation & use of resources effectively. (Emler, 2019).

Hence, flexibility approach and ability to gain business attention are other traits that good leader must possess.

A value proposition refers to a clear assurance rendered by an establishment to its consumers, with the guarantee that it is going to provide a specific package of worth producing gains (Hassan, 2012). In point of fact, a persuasive value proposition tends to structure the foundation for every transaction, promotion, and merchandise growth endeavors of a company. In addition to this, the concept of value proposition also constitutes the overall corporate strategy. Nonetheless, while investing in a robust IT management has a high value proposition, such as offering a way of handling the numerous fresh challenges in IT businesses currently, not many IT governance groups are appropriately prepared for the task (McKeen & Smith, 2003).

As such, recent studies show that capitalizing in IT management growth programs is extremely vital since they help in progressing imminent and existing management traits, as well as also contribute significantly in refining modernization, corporate plans, collaboration and decision-making processes (Smith, et al. 2007). In particular, Smith, et al. (2007) notes that in the recent years, information technology has lent towards thrusting businesses to an enhanced delivery of their objectives.

According to McKeen & Smith (2003), it is essential for IT leaders to possess an additional group of competencies that could be jointly termed as strategic foresight, in order for them to convey the effect that establishments anticipate from IT. They include;

Utilizing Resources Effectively : This entails the concentration of inadequate assets in areas where they are bound to generate the largest returns for the business. Thus, apart from using methods and implements to spread scarce personnel, the leaders are also supposed to comprehend where means should not be applied (to McKeen & Smith, 2003).

Creating a Safe-to-Fail Atmosphere: Hein, (2013) suggests that generating an environment that inspires workers to take risks and are safe to be unsuccessful tends to encourage modernization. However, leaders should ensure that they take premeditated chances in deliberately selected regions.

Developing a Helpful Working Setting: McKeen & Smith, (2003) suggest that IT leaders are mandated to possess knowledge on how to develop operating atmospheres that are typified by dependence, authorization, and culpability.
