Tim Discussion:

“In the next decade, Caring and Sharing will need to invest more money into their website and adapt to the changing social and economic landscape. With the rise of AI, the industry will become more competitive, and they will have to implement new changes to continue receiving donations. However, even if they do so, they may not be completely immune to losing out. Therefore, they must plan for the future and stay up to date with the latest trends to remain relevant."

The nonprofit industry is also affected by the shortage of skilled workers. According to the National Council of Nonprofits, 42% of U.S. nonprofits have a vacancy rate of 20% or more. However, having more employees does not necessarily mean they possess the skills needed for the future. 9 out of 10 nonprofit workers claim to lack the digital skills required for their jobs.

Despite the challenges faced by numerous leaders in the current business environment, some have been able to overcome these obstacles by utilizing cloud-based solutions that incorporate unified data, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) as core components. This approach enables them to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of their existing workforce, while also creating a work environment that appeals to new talent” (Mckay, 2023)”.

Darlyn Discussion:

Compassion International is a nonprofit organization that sponsors children living in poverty. I believe there will continue to be strong demand for Compassion's services in the future. Poverty and inequality are ongoing societal issues, both domestically and globally. As long as these systemic problems persist, organizations providing aid and empowerment programs for disadvantaged youth will play a vital role.  Technology could enable Compassion to expand its reach and streamline operations through advances like mobile payments and machine learning for program analysis (Besselink, 2021). However, the strong human connection between sponsored children and donors is central to Compassion's model. As the organization innovates, maintaining these meaningful relationships should remain the priority. In general, I expect nonprofits to continue serving crucial needs that are under-addressed by government policy or the private sector. Issues like healthcare access, education equity, civil rights, conservation and more require ongoing advocacy and boots-on-the-ground engagement (Compassion International, 2023). Tech-savvy operations, creative funding models and an ability to cut through partisan noise will characterize high-impact nonprofits 10 years in the future. With wealth inequality on the rise globally, the voices and services of the nonprofit sector will play an increasingly vital role in society.
